Hiccup is adorable, no argument there. Especially in the books, though. I picked up the first one when I was ten years old and, well, my first crush was on a fictional character and because of HTtYD I only seem to find adorkable skinny people attractive. *Shakes fist* DARN YOU CRESSIDA COWELL! But, if I may have a moment to fangirl over Book Hiccup... The best thing about the series is that he gets a LOT of character development, and it's told by Hiccup as an old man. At the start he's timid, under confident and constantly getting beaten up and his quite a sarcastic little kid in order to deal with things (which just makes you want to hug him), and he's slowly been turning into a sword-fighting, Dragonwhispering awesome warrior as he gets older, while still being adorable. Imagine movie Hiccup, but younger and with movie Fishlegs' tendency to nerd out over dragons. And then every so often there's parts in the book where things get so dark. Especially in the fourth and the ninth books, where it gets so bad he completely breaks down and cries. And as I said to my friend, if you can read those parts without wanting to hug him, then you have no soul. *Cough* Sorry for the fangirly rant. Hiccup's been one of my personal heroes since I was ten years old. *Cough* Totally not in love with a fictional character...

And he has such creative plans in the books, I mean not that he doesn't in the movie but there are so many more books that chronicle his adventures that its easier to see. And all the life-or-death situations he's gotten in, those are fun to read about how he gets out of them. xD I've wanted to hug him in the books too. You are not the only person who has a crush on little book-Hiccup. Hiccup and one other boy (ironically also a character in a book ) are the only two people I have ever had a crush on. lol

Not enough people seem to know the books, or at least, like them as much as the movie. I'm guessing from the quote in your signature that you have?

Up to the 7th book. I'll hopefully end up with the 8th one somewhere around the start of November since that's the soonest Amazon can send it to me. Since its too hard to get books successfully from my library loan system I started buying them from bookstores and Amazon. xD Yes, I love the books as much, or more, than I love the movie. They're wonderful little books and I love that they have pictures, I never knew I missed picture books until I read those. xD
