Well, with the rumor floating around that HTTYD is going to replace Twilight as the awesome new fad, might as well have a thread about it, I suppose.
Your thoughts on it?
I read the first book, and I didn't like it. I was bored through the whole thing, Edward set off my creeper alarms, Bella annoyed me, the sparkling thing was weird...the only thing that I can still remember actually liking was Alice, sweet little Alice, snarling viciously and being all awesome. It lasted for one line, but that image has gotten stuck in my head.
And being a member of TS, I've read a lot of stuff about the other three books that have made me say, "Okay...interesting...glad I never read them."
I'm not *as* rabidly against the books as some are, if only because it scares me how much Meyer writes like I did and I feel weird calling her out on stuff I used to do...but in short, I don't like it.
This is one of those like-it-you-love-it, don't-like-it-you-hate-it things, so ... tread carefully in whatever you say, I suppose. ^^;

Do not want xDD
I hated Twilight from the start, lol. I thought it was pretty cliché and besides, the main rundown which I heard was this xD :
Bella is a Mary-Sue Edward is a 107 year old pedo The whole story is basically a bunch of overused and old plots

marine-snow.deviantart.com/art/Twi-Hate-for-a-Good-Reason-96955453Nutshell. Right there. I read all the books. Took me four months to force myself through that atrocious monstrosity of a "novel." It read more like a trashy romance, and considering it's aimed toward young adults (young-mid teens in particular), it encompasses all of the WRONG points of a relationship. I'll let that link do the talking for me.

Blarg, I do not like Twilight. It is to dramtic, toooo... SPARKLY. Most of the people at my school are not obsessed with HTTYD like they were with Twilight. I dun think it will replace Twilight... infact, HTTYD is more epic then that annoying girl Bella and her magical sparkiling "vampire" Edward. MUCH better. But it is still not the thing my peers would be interested in.

Ew, Twilight. And Stephenie Meyer(sp?). All the lady did was write fanfiction about a wet fantasy she'd like to have(seems she doesn't get enough loving from her hubby, me thinks) and yet it became popular and slapped all the great writers in history who could only get a few hundred bucks from their books, unlike Meyer who got billions.
I like to laugh at Twilight. And I got kicked out of my local library for burning one of the books(Breaking Dawn or whichever the fourth one goes by). And apparently there's a game coming out, in book-form I think. Honestly, I could just imagine the controls if it were an actual video game:
Press 'X' to cry. Press 'Triangle' to whine. Press 'O' to cling on to a random man. Press 'Square' to become pregnant with a demon baby.
Oh, and just for fangirls, press 'Start' or 'Select' to sparkle.

I thought the first book was fluff, but passable fluff, and could understand other people liking it.
I thought New Moon was all right, though this may have been because Edward wasn't in it, and Jacob was a likeable character. But then the end came, and everything that I thought the movie had been leading up to was flaaaaat. I could see how the author was trying to do the whole intimidating angle for the Volturi, but they came off as flamboyant and not scary at all.
Then Eclipse came along and my hate started to set in. It was around this point that I realized none of the characters aside from a few were good (I liked Alice and Jasper a lot, despite his lack of screen time), and that Bella and Edward were getting married not because they loved each other, but because Edward is a conservative and won't have sex with her unless they got married first.
And even if I didn't find Edward creepy, he's boring! He and Bella never talk about anything other than: "Turn me into a vampire!" "No." *pout* There were girls at my school that joked about wanting to marry Edward, and I gagged at it even in jest. He's dull as all get out, and also seems to have anger management issues.
Also, I've quoted this before, but I still think it's a good point. I like to check out some reviews and vlogs from The Spoony Experiment, even though some of the jokes aren't my type of humour. Anyway, so Spoony, the guy who runs the site, did a vlog review of the New Moon review, and had a postscript afterwards that hit every reason why I don't like Bella.
The last line has been taken as describing everything that is wrong with the series. That, and the fact that the media won't shut up about it.
(And I never read Breaking Dawn, but there were girls in my school that hated that book so much they wanted to sell the entire series just to get it out of their house. That's not a good sign.)

Mmm. The Spoony Experiment. There be some awesome stuff there.
I would have liked this series better if they had just kept it one book. Just go ahead and have Bella become a vamp and stop readers from suffering through the next three books. Here's how things should have happened(haha, this is the second time I've posted this video on here):
Then again... if it had such awesome dialogue and humor like in the video, I might actually like it.

Wow, there's a lot of anti's here. xD Yes, that was my problem with Bella. She whined about EVERYTHING. "Oh, Edward skipped class, HE'S AVOIDING MEEEE!" She acts like her life is hell, when I only WISH I'd been as lucky as her in high school. And like I said, Edward...freaks the living hell out of me. All that stalking and mind games and stuff...reminds me of my sister's ex-husband. And that is the first time I ever stopped and actually watched that video. xD

Twilight: Eh, not all bad. Decent enough.
New Moon: OK, that was boring.
Eclipse: *fell asleep*
Breaking Dawn: WHY DID I READ THAT D8
Stephanie Meyer: You whiny bitch....
My feelings in a nutshell.

I didn't read the books and I didn't saw the movies, because they just didn't appeal to me. Thanks for the link CJ, now I know I never will either.

Oh yes, the movies. -_- My sister forced me to watch the first one with her as payback for dragging her to a midnight showing of Ice Age 3...I laughed the whole time. It was horribly-acted, horribly-lit, the make-up was just sloppy, and I got SO MAD when the good human boys (omg, Mike and Eric = <3, wish I knew more boys like them) were treated like dirt (ie, after the crash, Tyler is bleeding from his head and everyone is just like, "stfu, you scared Bella!" but she has no scratches AT ALL.).
There was only one scene that interested me, and that was only because of the unintentional symbolism. Bella is being carted away from James, and she sees her human friends laughing and having fun. Camera cuts back to Bella, who looks depressed as all hell. I think they were trying to say "look how mature she is, she knows how the world works!" All I saw was a young girl deeply regretting the relationship she'd gotten into and was longing to be normal, regretting how cruel she'd been to her normal, sane, and perfectly safe friends.
See, in the hands of a good author, you could've gotten some good, twisted pieces of literature. Instead, we get fluff that confuses the world on what true love is.
PLEEEEEEEEASE GOD, LET HTTYD KICK TWILIGHT OUT OF THE #1 FAD SPOT!!!!

How about the Avatar fanbase, wasn't that already bigger than Twilight?

How about the Avatar fanbase, wasn't that already bigger than Twilight? I haven't really heard much about the Avatar fanbase toppling Twilight, though. I think it was the whole 'next YA fantasy author whose books became movies' argument the video I saw was talking about. Andbecauseididnotcareforavataratalliwouldmuchratherpreferhttydtoreplacetwilight OKAY! Uhh...
