WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST END THIS GODDAMN FAD AND KILL OFF EVERYBODY IN THE LAST BOOK. OMG, when I read that news article, my first thought was, "Oh, no, she finished Midnight Sun." I read that excerpt that got leaked with some of my fellow anti-Twilight buddies, and was even more bored than I had been reading Twilight! When I read it was some novella about someone who dies in, like, five minutes....I facepalm'd. Literally. Especially cuz in the article, Meyer was all, "It's a novella...that's my way of saying 'short story.'" A NOVELLA =/= A SHORT STORY!!! A novella is too long to be a short story, but too short to be a novel. ie, Brave Little Toaster. You can read it in one sitting, but its a pretty long read. And Meyer's just trying to act all smart by saying, "lol, I write fancy short stories and call them NOEVL-LAS! " And the fact that its coming out the same month Eclipse does proves she's milking the cash cow. This also proves that she's grabbing at straws. Twilight's the only good thing to her name (good used very lightly here), as proved by The Host not being as popular (although, I admit, I actually *liked* The Host...it was no sci fi masterpiece like Asimov, sure, but it was still rather intriguing, to me...) She's gotta revive her meyerpires to keep the cash flowing. Shame my sister and her nieces (including a FOUR YEAR OLD) have bought into the fad. Thankfully, its dying. Everyone's pretty much going Anti. Except my favorite radio station, one of the DJ's said New Moon was the only good movie that came out last year. Ha. Ha. Ha. And I love that everyone here is an Anti, lol...any of you happen to be on the TwilightSucks forum?

TwilightSucks? Has my dream come true? WOOT! I'm going to go burn some Twilight fangirls Stephanie Meyer books for celebration. Anyone with me?
But, on a more serious note, let's face it; the series has to end somewhere. And, when it does, more space for the authors we actually like.

the one thing i really, really despise is not really the series itself, it's the followin it has plus the amount of 'original new series' that have popped up because of it. the vampire diaries, true blood, 'i kissed a vampire and I liked it' all these new books and series that are completely centered around vampires... it's flooding out the good old fashioned stories and shows. Underworld? Buffy? Angel? The interview with a vampire series? I may have not personally enveloped myself with the vamp world, but it isn't hard to tell the difference between good old vampys and.... other things...

Yeah, I miss the old vampire stuff. I didn't grow up with it, but I'm starting to become a big movie person, and I gotta say, Nosferatu and the Boris Karloff Dracula will be the best vampires ever... maybe a Christopher Lee thrown into that pile as well.
They were cheesy as hell, but I'll be damned if they aren't gods compared to fuckin Edward Cullen.

Yayz, haters! That just goes to show you how awesome HTTYD is. It brings fans with good taste in books. XD Good ta see ya, Angel.
Yeah, I have issues with Twilight. For a lot of reasons I may or may not mention here, depending on whether or not anyone cares.
...
Yeah, I'm posting my opinion anyways.
I hate Twilight because it promotes pedophilia, necrophilia, stalking, emotionally abusive relationships, getting married just to have sex, and, most importantly, it romanticizes suicide. I don't care how much you love so-and-so, killing yourself over them is. Not. Romantic.
EDIT: Just so ya'll know, if you're ever on TwilightSucks.com, look me up. I haunt the Twilight Fanfiction board and can often be found squee-ing with Angel over HTTYD in her snarking thread. XD

Besides the whole 'badly-written' thing, the 'morals' are just...ew. I wouldn't mind it being a fad if it wasn't teaching all those things as being desirable. And I do love how The adoption snark became The adoption snark + HTTYD fan thread. That was my fault, though...xD

I know, we all love HTTYD over there. XD Yeah, the morals were always my biggest reason for hating them, writing style and lack of character developement not withstanding. (Did that make sense?)

In defense of LJ Smith, who writes some really fantastic stuff, The Vampire Diaries is nothing new. The original series came out in 1991, with a fourth book out in '92, and she took a hiatus from writing for a while, after which she announced in 1998 that she was releasing a spinoff series, the first of which came out in 2009. :3
