Mine's not very funny, but since Toothless looks so insanely like my lab dog (like everyone else thinks he looks like their dog too xD It's mostly the big yellow staring eyes) that now I call him "my fat brown Night Fury" instead of "Logger". Same here! I call my black lab "Toothless" instead of "Tobias." ^^ Also, today, while collecting fish samples, the TA showed us this one fish called a violet goby. It looked EXACTLY like a mini version of the eels from the movie!

Hmmm... I went to the aquarium the other day with my Nan (aka my grandma), and we found axolotal (ok I REALLY don't know how to spell that) - more commonly known as Mexican Walking Fish. All I could think of was dang, they looked like Toothless!
In case anyone was interested, I also found Dory, Marlin and Nemo. I loled.

Yesterday, on the bus to our final site, several of the girls were talking about HTTYD's awesomeness. I was about to join in, but then they started talking about The Last Song. But still, I felt all happy that I wasn't the only HTTYD fan attending my college. ^^
Okay, that story wasn't funny or weird or anything, but this one was adorable:
A couple days back, I was looking at the food and the shirts at my Wal-Mart's HTTYD shrine (wanted to get the HTTYD oreos SO BAD), when a mom and her little boy entered the shrine. That little boy was just blown away by everything he was seeing. He would run up to the shirts and the plushies and the giant cardboard ship, gasping, "Wow! Wow! Mom! This is amazing!" I was biting my lip, trying not to say, "Awwwww!" at his amazement.
And did I tell y'all about the army of Toothlesses? I forget...well, in case I didn't, me and my two younger nieces all got Toothlesses from McDonald's. My mom looked at our little army and sighed, "So these guys are the rarest of the dragons?" xD

I have two, both relating to stuff near the end of the movie. You know that big dramatic moment near the end? Well, around that moment, I heard a little girl in my theatre wail, "Nooooo!" and at first I thought, "Oh wow, she's really into the movie." But then she continued on with "I ate all my popcorn!"
So, I guess she didn't care so much what was happening on screen.
The other funny story is more to my own stupidity, and since I have to mention spoilers here, for common courtesy to any member who hasn't seen the movie yet, you'll have to do some large amount of scrolling to read it.
***SPOILERS START HERE***
Okay, so me, being the idiot that I am, was honestly afraid Hiccup was dead. They held that tension for a very long time, and I couldn't help but be afraid. This is stupid not only because it's a kid's movie and who the heck would do that? but also because according to my teacher there is an actual law in the US where you can't kill a child in a film unless it is absolutely essential to the plot, and even then you can't show it. Other countries don't have this law, but the US does, and I'm assuming Canada would follow it as well. Sometimes I get too involved in what goes on in a story.
***SPOILERS END HERE***

You can't show the child's death? But...does it count if the movie wasn't made in the US, but also came to US shores? Because I can think of two right off the top of my head that killed a child and showed their death. (SPOILERS!!!! The Devil's Backbone and Pan's LabyrinthEND SPOILERS!!!!
Well, I saw it again today...we had an awesome crowd, and there was much "Awwwww"ing. Funny thing though, it all came from the adults, not the kids. XD The scene where Hiccup's looking for Toothless and finds a trail of his scales, some kid behind me asked what they were. Dad's response was "Dragon poop." Also, speaking of the "nooo!" above; the scene when Toothless tries to save Hiccup from the Nightmare and is pinned down? Some kid in front of me started wailing at that part. His mom held him and tried to reassure him ("He'll be okay! Hiccup will save him!") but the poor kid wasn't having it. She had to take him out of the theater when Toothless was chained in the ship, and never came back in. Poor guy. :<
Best part? Everyone started clapping like crazy when the credits rolled.

I love to read your stories. I went to see it in IMAX on thursday morning, less than 10 people were there to see the movie. It almost felt like I had a private theatre, with no-one sitting in front of me. ;D

Went to see the movie again today, and got myself another story from it! There was a very little boy sitting up in front of us, and I said to my friend "He's awful young. Most of the movie is okay, but the end is going to scare him."
Lo and behold, when the proverbial poo started hitting the fan near the end? He freaked out and started wailing. His father had to carry him out.
Felt bad for the tyke, but I so called that.

I went to see it in RealD 3D with my 18 (J) and 6 (Russ) year old brothers and my mom. (by the way, the 3d KICKED ASS)
Russ usually doesn't sit still for theater movies, but for the ENTIRE MOVIE he was just sitting, starting up at the screen in awe... until the end when I noticed he was crying. He was so sad Hiccup lost his leg! I had to give him a hug for that.
He also REALLY liked Stoick. XD
My mom said that she loved the whole movie and that Hiccup and Toothless were her favorite characters. And that should would steal Toothless for a joy ride. XD
J fell in love with the montage. THE ENTIRE MONTAGE. Being an 18 year old boy, I did not expect him to like that scene more than the battle and find this hilarious.

pffft...I'm seeing it a third time next weekend. XD
Anyhoo...lessee, more stories... Oh. One of my roomies has a black lab. I came out of my room the morning after my first viewing of the movie, and see the dog curled up in the dark hallway. Guess who she looked like? XD Like a huge dork, the first thing that entered my sleepy, just-woke-up brain was "HOLY CRAP, A DRAGON!"

The Devil's Backbone and Pan's LabyrinthEND SPOILERS!!!!Yeah, outside the US, it can happen. When my teacher told me about it (i think it came in with the Hayes Code, which caused a lot of censorship) he said in Japan they do whatever they want, in comparison. And movies in the US still have child deaths in movies, like in Gone Baby Gone, but the film-makers have to explain how it's important to the story. I want to see the movie again, but unless I get a part-time job, I won't have money to spend. My sister found a good quality capture of the movie, but we use it for AMV purposes, and I hate using downloaded stuff.
