I think it was the adrenaline rush to save Hiccup I still need to make a proper review for this...maybe tomorrow, since its Friday. Shade Oops, sorry I forgot to reply. My sis doesn't like Hiccup's voice. She thinks the music's too "dramatic". She says the story's too "cliche" as well. And some other reasons which I can't remember ATM. Sorry, forgot to check this thread... Anyway, I used to find Hiccup's voice annoying (and Hiccup in general annoying) but I got over it. And I know the story has some cliches which some people found bad but the concept was very original and the movie was good enough to transcend them. Lastly, how the hell is the music too dramatic? I thought it was perfect!

I was gonna post something this morning (like in the wee hours of the morning), but I'm gonna post it now: I'm surprised it wasn't the Skrill...and when Hiccup got electrocuted, I'm glad he's alive...not that I expected DreamWorks/Cartoon Network to kill him off...if they did, that would be the end of the HTTYD franchise: the show, the movies, etc...and then where would the HTTYD fandom be? Sorry, I've had that thought for hours and I just had to put it!

The writers have been hinting that the skrill won't be in until second season; however, the whispering death, the changewing, and the smothering smokebreath will most likely be in the first.

Aww. Skrills are my favorite, next to a Night Fury. But at least we'll get to see some new dragons this season!

That was a spectacular episode. I really liked how this episode took on the theme of spiritualism/religion versus science. I also noticed the resemblances to the movie: when Toothless saved Hiccup from drowning (the music was almost identical to the music that played when Hiccup tried to save Toothless from drowning in the movie) and the scene in Hiccup's house right after (with the pretty little piano solo, just like in the movie ). After watching it, I even compared it to Gift of the Night Fury to decide which one was better... I still ended up choosing GotNF because this episode still lacked the classic HTTYD soundtracks. Speaking of music, I've noticed that recently, DreamWorks has been using the theme from the soundtrack "The Vikings Have Their Tea" (the one that did not make it into the movie), which is a pretty music piece, but I still prefer the classic HTTYD soundtracks.

Same. The classics can be used very well, I think.
The one thing which annoyed me about the bed scene was that I thought it went by a little too fast compared to the movie. He just sort of woke up, found out he was alright, and left. No overwhelming gladness at Toothless being alive. No Astrid rushing to punch and subsequently kiss him, which would have gone perfectly with the reconciliation scene (I do think that more Astrid was required of that...I'm, as I said, a bit of a sucker for friendly romances which I think fit well)... It did disappoint me a bit. But the episode was still pretty great.
I was wondering if a dragon would be responsible.
Where are you getting information as to what the writers are hinting at?
Hiccup is an awesome character, by the way. He fits perfectly. None of this (movie-wise, at least) would have been possible without him. He's... interesting. Not sure how I'd describe my thoughts on him quite yet...

I was disappointed there wasn't any skrills in this, but this was still a fantastic episode and is by far my fav of this season. what won me over was how stoik, Gobber, Bucket, and mulch were trying to defend toothless. it really shows some character development there especially for stoik.

Mhm. Stoick's development is very interesting. I was actually just watching "Dragon Flower" and one quote comes to mind of him, as he stands over his ill dragon (I paraphrase): 'I used to devote my life to killing dragons, and now look at me."

Oh yeah. He's changed a lot, especially in his relationship with the dragons and Hiccup.

Indeed he has. The thing about Stoick is that he stands up for what he believes is right for his people. That used to mean defending them from the evil dragon raiders. Now, with Hiccup bringing the situation to light, it still means defending his beloved Berk, but now a Berk in which they are partnered with dragons. Dragons have become, in a way, his people too. At least the Berk ones have.
I guess that could even be one explanation as to why he was so intent to have Hiccup become so big-beefy-Viking-like. In his worldview, that is what you needed to be in order to thrive, especially as the future leader of the village.
Which still works for Stoick, mind you. But now he's starting to realize that Hiccup can do it in his own way.

Agreed. As Gobber said..."There's the Viking way, and then there's the Hiccup way."

And then you come to the realization that the two aren't always mutually exclusive. _____
This episode leads me to wonder what kind of scientific achievements will come about on Berk (because of their unawareness of the round Earth/lightning-strikes-metal). I also wonder who will be the discoverer of these scientific achievements. Hiccup with his intellect seems the obvious choice... but he kinda has a lot on his plate already.

True enough. Maybe Fishlegs or Astrid. Perhaps even Gobber, he spends enough time around the smithy, he might bang something a certain way and find out something new.
