I have to wonder if Toothless is electrically charged in some way.
If he's the "offspring of lightning", this would cause him to be attract electrical energy when lightning gets near.
And I wonder, should Hiccup construct a new tail now, one not made of metal?
Some woods can be as hard as metal if you use the right kind.
I'm surprised Astrid didn't get zapped as well.
After all, she has metal shoulderplates and well, flying high while wearing metal is asking to get shocked!
Also, what are the dragon roosts made of?
I assumed it was stone, but if lightning is drawn to them, is there a metal component to their construction?
I also liked Stoick having a Hiccup moment, although it wasn't obvious.
When the teenagers are preparing to dismantle their Thor statue, he suggests they move it to a higher point on the island instead.
It's a known principle that lightning will always strike the highest point first, since it provides the easiest path to the ground.
So, by moving the statue to the highest part will act as a natural lightning rod, drawing the strikes away from Berk, which is situated much lower.
And somehow, Stoick worked that out.
Also, it was funny to see Astrid getting nauseous at the thought of a Snotlout statue.
Does she really find him that repellent that looking at him flexing his biceps makes her physically ill?
The bit about Astrid's Aunt was also amusing.
How she tried to "sail to the end of the world" and she just ended up coming back from the opposite direction.
Which means she travelled all the way around the world!
