Haha I like that nickname too . Well yeah, but either way to me, I think mature HTTYD just ruin the movie. That's why I don't really like reading HTTYD fics with even the least mature stuff possible.

But Hitchcups ain't valid cuz it's WAY out of the story. If it were a HTTYD movie, it would be like Te 20th sequel XD. I've been wondering if DreamWorks would ever want to resurrect the franchise like a decade after the third film comes out - like what Pixar did with Toy Story 3. And like TS3, you would have the characters age the same number of years so Hiccup and the gang would all be in their mid-20s. Granted, Andy (a secondary character) in TS3 was the only one that really "aged." The problem I see is, you would really need to inject a lot more drama and maturity into the script for it to work well (IMO) with an older cast. Katzenberg would have to have steel balls the size of basketballs to proceed with an idea like that because it's such a polarizing concept to have grown up characters and story built on a foundation of animated fantasy with an unshakable feeling of 'cuteness' that seems more appropriate for younger audiences. Drama and maturity that pleases older audiences has always been the backdrop in big-budget animated films. Like in TS3, the drama behind Andy growing up was the general premise and outline, but the primary characters and overall feel of the screenplay was the same as before. In "UP," you got a good dose of deep emotion for a short while in the beginning, but then it fell back to your typical far-fetched kiddie-pleasing shenanigans. If you were to write a HTTYD sequel the way I'm proposing it, I feel that those grown-up components would need to take center stage for the whole film. Of course the film would still have plenty of adventure and action as the genre suggests which would please audiences of all ages. I'm not sure if I would trust any director(s) or writers to be able to pull off a stunt like that, but the concept is very tantalizing to me. So what do you guys think? Can you imagine a way to make a HTTYD sequel with older characters while believing you could pitch it to a DreamWorks exec without having them throw you out on your ass? Admin/mods, this off-topic post turned out much longer than I first anticipated. If this conversation gets too developed, you may want to move it to a new thread.

Lol i hope dreamworks doesn't do that . TS3 had too many non-Appropiate stuff for children . And I actually think that the first movie would've been good enough. And it would kinda suck cuz it would be like seeing WAY different characters . The things is only old HTTYD fans would like it, but maybe not children at that time. Just like TS3. It looks like it was aimed to amaze adults, but Pixar was not careful enough at how kids would see it.

TS3 had too many non-appropriate stuff for children Really, how so? There were definitely scenes in the movie that were much more emotional than usual for a family animated film, but nothing I remember could be classified as inappropriate for kids. And it would kinda suck cuz it would be like seeing WAY different characters . Well I wouldn't say "WAY different." You would still be able to clearly identify Hiccup's sarcasm, ingenuity, and humbleness and Astrid's aggressive, prideful yet loyal character - just more refined. Tuffnut and Ruffnut would still give each other crap, but it would be less physical abuse and more clever on the snappy verbal banter. ;D However, having the main characters undergo a significant change (such as aging 10 years) is definitely unprecedented, so I understand that it's hella risky in not being completely consistent with the primary characters. The thing is, only old HTTYD fans would like it, but maybe not children at that time. Just like TS3. It looks like it was aimed to amaze adults, but Pixar was not careful enough at how kids would see it. You would need to absolutely annihilate the box office with the third film to ensure you have a large enough fan base to even consider proceeding with such an idea. I'm thinkin at least 750 mil in worldwide sales. TS3 was a total success. While you may not like how they handed the script, it made over a billion worldwide with a very wide demographic and that's why there's a TS4 in development. Everything is always treated like a business proposition in the pursuit to make more money in the movie industry.

T11, part of the reason why HTTYD was so successful is BECAUSE it's mature. Unlike other children's films, it takes a more realistic look and handles the situations in a mature way. It is a children's movie, but it's handled so that adults will also enjoy it. Adult things, as I said, do not make something more mature. How it is handled does. So many "grown up" movies are immature because they handle things so unrealistically or immaturely. For example, I find movies like Eight Crazy Nights to be, while enjoyable, extremely immature even though it has profanity, drinking, and sex jokes.
How To Train Your Dragon already IS mature. More mature than you may realize. You don't dislike "mature" things, you dislike "adult oriented" thing. Saying HTTYD isn't mature is almost like saying it's not meant to be enjoyed by everyone, which is part of what it aimed to do.
Pixar decided to make TS3 more mature for many of the same reasons that JK Rowling made Harry Potter more so as well. The original audience grew up. It's still enjoyable to children, but the parents and older fans can still love it as well because they aren't being talked down to or subjected to childish things throughout everything. My 6 year old brother ADORED TS3. My father hated the first two, but enjoyed that one. I like all of them. Everyone of all ages being able to enjoy it is the sign of a good movie, if only one age group can enjoy it then it takes the enjoyment as a whole away.
Imagine HTTYD without Toothless being shot down and losing his tail fin, without Hiccup losing his leg, without the constant threat of death and being forced into conformity hanging over the character's heads, without the serious tone. That's what your typical kid's movie would have been for this.
T11, I doubt you are saying what I feel from your posts, but I get the impression that you are saying maturity, not adult situations and things, would make HTTYD worse. I do not believe this is so. Maturity is what made this movie so great to begin with.
In addition, the "not appropriate for children" moments are handled in such a way that children COULD handle it. TS3 and HTTYD are very much the same in this respect. I am rather annoyed by seeing movies that skirt about topics because it is aimed at children. This is how movies should be handled, not skirting and not dumbing it down and not just avoiding it because kids are going to be watching it.
This is off topic. If you wish to debate over this in general, make a topic in the chill thread. This is not the place to argue about it.

Lol Te only problem with Megavideo is that you can only watch 70 min. Of a vid, then you have to wait like half an hour before you can continue . I'm gonna ask my sister to buy it for me . She's sendin us some stuff and a HTTYD DVD next month. But I still want to watch before then.

Lol well just to let you know, Gift won't be sold anywhere here in this country (I'm not in the US . though I WAS born there). My oldest sis is in Denver. So she can actually buy the DVD and send it nex month when she sends other stuff too. So yeah. It sucks cuz even HTTYD was only in stores here for like a month .
