14 days people!!!!! 14 dayzzzzz! Yay! Now I'm waiting for toothless11's pessimistic response Hey NorthernStar, did you decide to read anymore of that Hitchups fanfic? Yup, I have read 38 chapters.... 1-2 everyday..... The story has been awesome!! You know, It was a really bold move to make Toothless to speak in that fic. but in my oppinion the gamble has paid off!! I also liked that the story is much more mature than the original one!

Hehe. Chapters got significantly longer, didn't they?
You wouldn't believe how much I was objecting to that when it was first revealed. I was all like "WTF!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" But damn! I was really blown away that she was able to pull it off so well with such a perfect personality for him. And when I play devil's advocate, I see it would have been nearly impossible to create a sufficient amount of engaging and dramatic material in a 330,000 word Hiccup & Toothless focused fanfic if they couldn't communicate clearly.
Now the question is, will you be as pissed off/disappointed as I was when you finish the story and read the author's notes?

Okay....... back on topic... Oh, wait no mods!! Just a little .___. You know, the Hiccup - Toothless conversations are the salt of the story!!! ::He was probably calling you a jackass:: Toothless professed. ::I bet it had nothing to do with the river:: "Go shed yourself," Hiccup returned with a phrase he learned from Toothless. "You don't even know what that means." ::Do too... loser:: "Belly-crawler." ::Bastard:: "Gimp." ::Wimp:: "Soppy-flamed worm." ::Son of a witch:: "Bitch works too," Hiccup pointed out. ::Oh:: Toothless said before trying the word, ::Bitch:: "Soft-shelled hatchling." ::Simpleton:: "Dull scales." ::Baby face:: Hiccup's hands instantly went to his cheeks, patting the last of the baby-fat he couldn't quite seem to shake. "...Dinky-winged, air serpent!" ::Oh no you didn't—!:: "Yeah, I went there. I'm not sorry—"

Lol that's another thing I don't like at all in HTTYD fics XD. When any character says words like "sh!t" or "bi*ch" or "F***" etc...

Funny, that banter was probably the least mature thing written in the story, but it was quite humorous, I agree.
Actually, that's another thing I threw a fit at when Astrid dropped the 'S' word In the first chapter. Fortunately, no F-words and everything else (incl. the S-word) is used very rarely. Even though there is content that overshadows coarse language in maturity, I think the writer could have just kept to narration, like "Astrid let out a curse..." which interestingly is how it's handled most of the time.

Okay, so here's some on-topic material for once. Seems like we have our first new music sample from David Buckley, the composer for the shorts. It's titled "Book of Dragons" which is the first track that plays in the flash player on his website: davidbuckleymusic.net/Sounds pretty damn good despite the fact that I don't really hear any of Powell's original motifs from his suite.

WOW!!! The song sounds amazing! It is different from John Powell, but I still feel like I'm in Berk when I listen to it, and that's what's important. It makes me start to question the "Book of Dragons" (in a good way) though because I can't tell what exactly this music is supposed to be going to, but since it says "Book of Dragons--Finale" I'm guessing it's either the end of the short or the credits. Either way, at least Book of Dragons will have good music at the very least XD

It makes me start to question the "Book of Dragons" (in a good way) I know, right? The dynamic of that track almost suggests that there's a bit of developed story and drama to the production. We shall see... By the way, I did detect a light similarity in the track to the original score. The first few notes played by the clarinet at the beginning somewhat matches what you hear in "The Downed Dragon" at 1:05 and "Ready the Ships" at 1:35.

What I get from it is maybe an ending montage of some sort, where all the characters in the short (I'm guessing Hiccup, Astrid, Gobber, and Fishlegs) are kind of going around and gathering new information and putting it into the "new and improved" book of dragons. But that was just my first impression after listening to it. I'm sure I'm way off base, but still I'm getting the same vibe that maybe there's more of a story to this than implied.
