Yes. But that's like the final buildup to the climax, which I think is actually the least important in terms of character development.

So are you essentially telling us that this huge battle thing that was leaked was in essence this movie's equivalent to the Red Death scene?
As long as it's not too corny.

I don't know exactly what happens during the battle, but yes, it could be viewed as the second movie's equivalent of Red Death battle. The difference is that if you really take it apart there are technically three sides in the battle (I think the third side would remain relatively dormant). Plus, this time Hiccup will be essentially torn between two groups, whereas the first movie shows Hiccup getting into the fight mid-battle as a complete outsider. I would even go as far to say that the big battle itself seems to serve as a device for finishing Hiccup's internal conflict.
Off-topic: Speaking of corny, a music critic's review of the premiere of Korngold violin concerto: "Korngold's violin concerto is more corn than gold." Which I think is one of the best puns made using a composer's last name, ever.
Back on topic: So if there are three sides in this, and we know two sides, what is the third side? Tune in next time I'll leave that up for, you know, speculation and stuff. Wouldn't be fun knowing all the answers... actually it is kinda fun, but it's also not.

I just get very worried.
I don't trust people with sequels.
It's my story paradox, you see. I always want sequels because I want more of the story, yet I never really trust anybody to make them right.
Ah well.

It's DreamWorks. I don't think any of their sequels have screwed up, in contrast to stuff like the infamous Cars 2. Hopefully the trend continues...

I've heard a lot of people complain about Dreamworks doing bad sequels.
Honestly, though, this is more on the creators than the corporate entity (although corporate entity does have oversight and the potential to mess it up too). But they did HTTYD. They did Lilo and Stitch actually... I have hope. I don't think they're the kind of "Let's sell out for glory and action!" (unless of course the corporate granddaddy is forcing them) so we'll have to see.

Well, I didn't think they were you know... THAT bad. Not great by ANY means, but not that bad.
Speaking of all these films, Doug Walker (the dude behind Nostalgia Critic) has a series of videos about these films, labeled "Disneycember" and "DreamWorks-uary," covering most of Disney/Pixar and DWA's films. His insights are pretty honest and often times hilarious, if you don't mind the sometimes NSFW language.
So far, the sequel's looking to use many of the things setup-wise that I was hoping to see in the Incredibles 2 if it were ever to be made. But I digress, let the sequel-phobia and sequel-philia commence.
By the way, anyone looking forward to Powell's music? I'm planning to start a catalogue of the themes (and how they're arranged) from the first movie as a reference for myself when I go in to see the sequel. With new characters come new themes, and I just love hearing them pop up here and there. It's like a treasure hunt. For music nerds.

Spoilers below. Highlight at your own risk. I'm actually more interested in the interaction between the older characters than anything. Though, to be honest, the sound of Drago's "War Machines" brings some cool thoughts to mind, and I hope for some Hiccup-Like contraptions on a larger scale in this battle between Dragons/Riders and Drago's Armies and "War Machines".
And I hear both sides have a single dragon type as their "secret weapon", a 'Bewilderbeast' I believe, Drago has one captive and as a a slave, while the other is aiding Team Hiccup as it may be called. Would I be correct to guess it's this?
3.bp.blogspot.com/-8PM790z45qo/UXXDOBnNv4I/AAAAAAAAL4Q/GpnLGDpyV8Q/s1600/HTTYD2%252C+Pic+4.jpg
I could be entirely wrong, but ya never know. It seems to be a pretty large Dragon.
Back to the subject, I'm excited to a see a full scale war in the HTTYD franchise, and a bigger world opened by HTTYD. Even more so, I'm excited to see the fully grown characters and how they interact. (Not to mention seeing Hiccup being a halfway-to-badassism is going to be awesome.)
(As a side note: I'm expecting Hiccstrid, and Dreamworks better not disappoint.)
But, I will admit, as much as I'm excited and hyped for HTTYD 2, I am almost certain it will not hold the magic of the first one. Hiccup and Toothless are already best pals, so that gaining of trust and friendship simply won't be there. And it simply won't be the same with any other rider or Dragon. And I'm not too thrilled with all of the leaked character designs (though some are cool)
To put it into words, I have some pretty damn high expectations for HTTYD 2. And while I expect it to have more and better battle scenes then the first, and I expect an at least similarly well-done plot line, I don't expect it to be as moving as the first. All in all, if it doesn't at least mark a 9/10 in my books for all of this waiting I'm/We're doing, then I'm going to go on a RAMPAGE. XD

SSSHHHHHHH!!!!! NON-DISCLOSURE!!!! *sighs* Yes, Hiccup-Toothless has already been established, but there's enough to fill in the gap... Less charming/whimsical, but AFAIK the interaction with this "surprise" new character is the perfect replacement and a good way to appeal to a more mature audience. 4 years will have passed (Darn, that's when I saw Avatar in IMAX in Universal Orlando) since the first film's release and we've all grown a bit, haven't we? I know I did. All I'm gonna say about new Hiccup:

Doesn't look like you can do the foldable spoiler tag thing. DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNNNMy kludgy solution: Since the board's background color in hexcode (thanks, GIMP!) is 000033, you can use the color tag to make the text color match the background. Like this This will make the text visible only when you drag on the post. Example: SPOILERS! (Drag below to read) Bruce Willis is a ghost! Also: Started cataloging musical themes from HTTYD with a record of instances and brief insights into their significances: docs.google.com/document/d/1n7v8kwXuHams2-X7JKNXIPK0P-I2_PQPd72CBA1FcO4/edit?usp=sharingRight now it's really sloppily written (free-writing for now) but the list will grow and I'll edit what I've written. I have allowed commenting, so people can go crazy on that.

I'm actually so excited for the music of the second movie. I keep listening to the complete score of the first movie and there are just a lot of tracks they didn't use in the first movie and yet they're perfect! I hope I hear more of those in the second movie. Especially there's this one very sad music with the main Hiccup theme that is just so perfect. Anyway, those who don't have the perfect album (about 40 tracks, I think), send me a pm and I'll send you the links
