Dagur is easily my favourite villain from the first season. Mildew was predictable and Alvin was just meh IMO. I can't wait to see what evil schemes he has in store for this season.

I actually liked Alvin. Not the best villain in all of existence, but he was still pretty decent. Mildew can go die in a hole and rot for all I care. Gah, he's such a friggin traitor.

But yes, Dagur is beast, haha. Looking forward to seeing what he's got up his sleeve.

I need to rewatch the series, it's been a couple months since I last looked at it. Picking up my preordered RoB DVD's tomorrow!
I remember mostly Dagur and Mildew's shenanigans, and not much about Alvin, so that's why I rated him a meh. I'll rewatch and then maybe probably I'll change my mind.

I absolutely hated Mildew >.< A traitor and an anti-dragon all in one. Feel the Toothless love already!!

Alvin... Meh. I really don't have much to say about him. But Dagur, ohhhhh for the love of Thor, he was my favorite side character. XD He's just insane and awesome.

That's precisely why I don't like him. An anti-dragon turncoat who's going to use everything he knows about Berk and dragons against his own people!
But we can count on him returning to cause more trouble, now that he's on the other side and has taught them how to tame dragons.

And Alvin, well, I don't like him much either, but his plan in getting Hiccup to teach him how to tame the dragons was pretty smart, though predictable.

But I think the show has accomplished something by making us hate these two so much! Gah I want to see them fail and screw up so badly!

...But Dagur? I wouldn't mind if he sticks around a while.

(Do you think it's time to start a DoB board yet? We're only going to get more info about the show/episodes from here on out.)

I guess what I liked most about Alvin was how involved with Hiccup he was. (not in a dirty way, mind you) I've always been a sucker for villains who have it out for my favorite character. XD

And I also like how they didn't sugarcoat him since it's supposed to be a "kid's show". You can clearly see how violent and serious he is and to what lengths he's willing to go to get what he wants. That's another thing I've always looked for in a good villain.

About the DoB board: I'm not entirely sure if it should have an entire board to itself, since it is technically still a part of the same series, but what do you guys think? I could make a sub-board in the RoB section or something, but I'd like some opinions before anything happens.

Well the RoB board is a bit crowded with a lot of topics, many of which aren't really related or relevant to DoB. So I think it should be given a clean slate with its own board. But that's just me. EDIT: I changed my mind.

And good point about the anti-sugarcoatification of the villains. I haven't watched many other animated series lately, and I guess I kind of took it for granted that the show and the villains are much darker than most others aimed at the show's target demographic. (I'm trying to avoid saying RoB and DoB are kids shows )

I actually love Mildew as a semi-villain. He never has showed his true motive explicitly so far. If he is so against Berk's changes, why is he going to Alvin to get him to utilize dragons? He was more for basically exterminating them. Why does he turn against Berk when he was clearly trying to protect Berk from changing during the earlier parts of the season? etc. etc.

I hypothesized before that he is actually just anti-Hiccup, though never shown directly. Seemed to answer those question to an extent.

And we probably don't need another board... It would be weird to have a subboard inside this one just because the second season has a different subtitles. And unless this show becomes as big as Lost, navigating shouldn't be an issue....

Okay, maybe just change the title of the board to "TV Series: Defenders of Berk / Riders of Berk"?

I don't think a seperate board is necessary.

It's just a title change, it's still the same series.


I didn't expect to see Dagur again, not after he was sent fleeing in terror.
But seriously, I doubt he's much of a threat, even with the Berserker Armada behind him.
One hit from a dragon and your boat goes down!

And there isn't just one dragon on Berk, there's several!
I wouldn't like to challenge all of them at once.

Curious to see how the Alvin situation plays out.

And especially hoping something nasty happens to Mildew, preferably at the hands of Astrid.
She's never liked him from the start, so I've been expecting that she's going to deal with him personally.
Or have Stormfly do it.
