well it seems like during this he looks to be either satying dagur could work for him or work against him its his choice the way he says it makes me have that impression and its more of a hiccup like choice then looking for a fight which would be the other situation because before toothless appears dagur isnt aiming at him so he seems a bit neutral then. it looks more like him asking to be an ally even if the situation is that tense.

About the 'grappling shield' scene with Gobber : thank God that Gobber didn't raise up his right arm, or we would have had some Hiccup 'on a stick'. That's why you test your inventions first Hiccup, to make sure that whatever's pulling that string isn't stronger than you and see what the consequences are when you use it on someone who is stronger than the contraption!

Is the intent of that thing to pull the opponent towards the user? Because for Hiccup that would never work: Ever. (explanation here)

Is the intent of that thing to pull the opponent towards the user? Because for Hiccup that would never work: It could be used to trip an opponent if he aims for the legs, and it obviously can ensnare an opponent, but I don't think the intent was for Hiccup to be drawn to Gobber here. It's true that it can be used as a grappling hook though.

Or another way, the force of the impact from having the weight of Hiccup and the shield impacting a foe might knock them off balance.
I'm assuming Gobber was properly braced for the impact, since he knew in advance what would happen.
But an unsuspecting enemy would not be so prepared.

Yeah, but coming back to my original point : what if the guy has his arm up when Hiccup is dragged to him like a balista's bolt? The guy may be knocked-out, but Hiccup would have a sword stuck in his guts.

The shield would most likely deflect the sword to one side on impact, if not knock it from their hand outright.
I doubt the guy holding the sword can brace it hard enough to go through the shield, especially if he's not expecting it to happen.
And since Hiccup is behind the shield, he's fairly safe from being impaled.

OMG I've been SOOOOO inactive recently. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things though.
So anyway, I saw the trailer, and I liked it! I mean, it's not particularly good by normal standards, but by CN standards it is!
I'm very excited for it!
