When I first saw the trailer i fangasmed all over the place. My little productivity I had has been reduced to rubble and I've spent all day watching it over and over XD Its so beautiful! I love how you can see the power in Toothless' wings!
There are no words to describe the awesomeness, seriously.

I can't wait for it. I'm still a little hesitant about the flying squirell suit, but the more I think about it the more I'm okay with it. It's so amazing. And the animation is so beautiful! I can't wait.
I've only been able to watch it once, though. I had classes to go today and work to do. Someone I was able to be productive today.

Anyone know if the music is from something else? I'm transcribing it right now and if it isn't original stuff that seems like a pointless thing to do...

I think the music is definitely new and a taste of what the second movie's soundtrack will be. I sure hope they include some of the more memorable tracks from the first movie like "This is Berk", "Test Flight" and maybe even "Romantic Flight"

I hope they *don't* include any music from the first movie. The first movie's soundtrack (and the music in the teaser trailer too) have the power to give me the chills every single time I hear it, and I've heard it literally thousands of times. It'll be great to get some new music to "chill out" to. (Ha!) This trailer is amazing. I had a grin on my face the entire time the first time I watched it, though I think the feeling of enjoyment might have been somewhat diminished as I knew what to expect from this trailer beforehand. I hope they continue this feeling of epic-ness this trailer invokes into the movie. I'd also love it if the film is as dark, or darker, than the first film. I want to see the characters get put in more dangerous situations with real consequences, as I think it's one of the many things the first movie does right and makes it great. One thing I really love is just how much more advanced Hiccup and his designs and inventions have become. We go from a relatively inexperienced Hiccup who's designs are fairly basic but workable (because he's still learning as Gobber's apprentice), to a complicated, intricate flight suit (with wings!) and a much more advanced harness and tail system for Toothless. It's very impressive, even more so because he's a Viking in the 11th century! Even though its much more complicated, the designs still scream Hiccup to me; I was initially concerned that his drastic change in appearance and clothing and his much more complicated inventions would make him seem less Hiccup-like to me, but this isn't the case. And although he looks different, his behaviour is still very Hiccup too. I think it's a very natural progression from the start of the first movie (an unconfident, self-deprecating "why can't I be like you guys") to now, given all that's happened to him in the movie and GotNF (I'm not sure if RoB counts as canon or not). I like that he's changed from being embarrassed and put-down for his differences, to becoming his own unique and awesome person because of them, and he can take pride in them. I especially look forward to seeing more of the crazy daredevil stunts he's devised, and seeing Toothless be a bit hesitant toward them, of course. I hope that in making him much more confident, they haven't left behind the other character traits that make him such an endearing character. And Toothless still seems as Toothless-y as ever XD And the foot. It looks like he's created different food attachments for use depending on the situation, and he's designed his new harness for Toothless with this in mind. I think it's a totally brilliant idea, and I hope this gets explored more in the film. He could have different attachments for walking, flying with toothless, flying with other dragons, walking on ice, and so on. This would be a great place for Hiccup's inventiveness to shine in a way that I don't think most people would initially think about, and can be a great way to show us that Hiccup takes pride in his differences. I've been browsing around the Internet for reactions to this trailer, and I'd say about 95% of it is positive. The 5% who aren't so positive are upset by Hiccup's change. I think the change works, and I think I like him perhaps a bit more for it now, but I do understand how people are upset by how we're leaving the cute teenage Hiccup behind. I wish they let us see more of him than that little bit at the end, as it's the only thing I'm slightly disappointed about by this trailer. My hope for the (plot structure of the) movie: the first third is used to reintroduce us to the characters again, fill us in on what's gone on since the last movie, and the beginning of the plot with exploration of new lands and more daredevil stunts. The second third gets us into the actual plot of the movie and the story begins to develop. Then the last third is where the problem becomes the major issue in the movie, and the climax is where it's resolved. Basically, I don't want the movie to throw us into the main problem or plot of this story right away; they've created something beautiful here and I'd like them to take the time to explore it without having the heaviness of a problem or a major plot point weighing it down. The pacing of the first movie was outstanding, and I'd like to see them do something similar with this movie, as I generally dislike movies that have just one main problem that is announced at the very beginning and then takes the entire time of the movie to resolve. And one final thing: "Puberty: you're doing it right." TL;DR: oh, just read it, okay? (Oh and it's impossible to surf the internet for this stuff without coming upon the leaked plot points which I'm so desperately trying to avoid. Arrrrrrgh )

Good point about the music. I am very excited to see what John Powell has for us next. I am hoping that they keep hiccup's differences and distinctive character traits in the second movie. I think that part of what made him such a good character was that he was relateable as well as dynamic. In case people haven't seen them, here are the first official HTTYD 2 pictures of Hiccup, Astird, and toothless, courtesy of reddit (/r/httyd).

In that case, it sounds like our main flight theme is a reflection (kudos to Mr. Benjamin Britten for the usage of this word) of "Test Drive" and the first movie's main theme (which one is the movie's main motif? I explained this on my Tumblr). WOOT WOOT

I'm made speechless by the fact that you just guessed the structure of HTTYD2... correctly. *claps with solemn respect* *gets sniped by a hitman from DWA* I am so smrt. To my discredit, it wasn't a wild guess. I expected they would follow a structure similar to the first movie, as it's so effective for story telling as well as plot development and character development. The "official" plot blurb also hints at a structure similar to this as well. Adding something I didn't really notice the first few watches, until it was pointed out to me by tumblr: Toothless now has these 'spikes' (for lack of a better word) all over his body where there were none before. Toothless has grown up too! And Hiccup's helmet and flight suit closely mimic Toothless's design, right down to these spikes. It's quite subtle, but it's so cool that there's this level of design and attention to detail in the animation, and it hints at just how totally inseparable Hiccup and Toothless has become. I hope the movie spends ample time in developing and exploring their characters and their bond further. OH and here's the officially official trailer, in HD! The one at the top of the page is low quality and unofficial so it might get taken down. Watch full screen in 1080p with the volume up all the way to maximize the epic.

I dunno how big on the mask I am, but everything else is pretty epic. Personally I do hope we get Test Flight again for HTTYD 2.

I think the mask is good, I like the design and how the spikes on it are in the exact same pattern as they are on Toothless. (Perhaps Hiccup wants to *be* Toothless?) Apparently from what I've been reading on the Internet, some shady shenanigans happened as the trailer was *not* intended to be released yesterday. It somehow got leaked (that's why it didn't show up on DWA's YouTube first), and after it was copied all over the Internet and became impossible to take down, DWA decided to release it officially on their YouTube. It was supposed to be released as an Apple-exclusive trailer next week, just before Turbo gets released to theatres, and because of this leak that deal has fallen through. Apparently DWA is currently investigating the source of the leak (read: someone is about to get terminated). Still I guess it's nice we got to see it five days earlier than intended?

On one hand, it's a shame the leak spread so fast that DWA had to actually work around the leak.
On the other hand, we got to take the exclusive out of Apple's hands, which I like.

Yeah I changed my mind about the mask, I like it now that I've seen the trailer a few hundred times.
