Easy! ICELAND. Or at least and island off of Iceland.
1) They have Icelandic Cod.
2) It's cold, yet green.
3) Viking relics are found there.
4) Jonsi, the singer of Sticks and Stones, is from Iceland. There is a part of the song completely in Icelandic.
... yeah... any questions or comments? This is what I think. but I may be wrong.

With that much evidence, I find it hard not to agree with you. ^^'
The only alternative I can think of is Scotland. They have Scottish accents. *shamed*

Lol, like I implied, my guess was lame with no good evidence to back it up.
Maybe they sailed away from Scotland to Iceland. Tee hee!

5) Vikings come from the Norse bloodline, and all origins of Norse are found in and around Iceland.

... I think Welcome is half right. I think their ancestors came from Scotland and they kept the accent. Why?
Well... I'm part Irish. People from Ireland and Scotland have similar genetic traits. Like buck teeth. Guess who has buck teeth? *points to self* And who else? *points to cast*

Actually, Bane, I'm not sure I am right.. I mean, you have a point there, but I think the Celtic people were from Ireland. I may as well point out that I'm only saying this because I've stuck my nose in my trusty Horrible Histories magazines (anyone know what I'm talking about?)... The Vikings, apparently, were originally Norsemen, from Scandinavia - Norway, Sweden and Denmark (I didn't know that.. ). Some Vikings did actually settle in England and some other parts of Europe! While I don't know if they settled in Iceland the magazine says they definitely made voyages there.

Also, Gerard Butler played Hiccup's dad and he's from Scotland. ;] Or Ireland. Either way he's hot. -Shot-

Mm hmm... So the volcano on Iceland was caused by the Green Death, right? Well, people should not get stuck in the airports as Toothless can carry the emergency ones to their destination first (if he doesn't mind...)

Oh, ICELAND. omg wooww.... Dx I always get Iceland and Greenland mixed up, for some reason, and this whole time I thought it was Greenland.
It was this stupid Carmen Sandiego computer game I used to play a long time ago that made me think that, cuz there was this part where you had to help these Vikings get to Greenland or something like that..... and I automatically associated Vikings with Greenland from then on, I guess.... xDD;;

Where is Berk? That's a very good question. My assumption would be "somewhere near Iceland" as well, mostly due to the fact that there is a volcano. Not many areas that have had volcanic activity and Vikings at the same time exist. [ Map of tectonic plates here] Also, then the fact that it "snows nine months a year and hails the other three" or that it's "a few degrees south of Freezing to Death" would make some sense - due to sea currents, those areas would be a lot colder than the other areas nowadays known as the Nordic countries, and still south enough that nights could actually be dark (at least for a couple of hours) during early-ish fall. On the other hand, the local flora doesn't look all that Icelandic to me. Not that i've ever been to Iceland, but I'm fairly sure that they don't exactly have much forests there. Wikipedia says that the deforestation in Iceland has been caused relatively recently by humans immigrating there, so maybe forests in nearby islands in fictional history wouldn't be anything too unbelievable after all.

... a scientific reason to back up my assumption. I APPLAUD THEE!
I do agree, it is a bit mixed up though.

They do have Scottish accents, but that has been a certain choice by the directors. I do believe it is Iceland, yes, all the facts are there. PLUS: Vikings were known to travel. A LOT. They even went to America before Columbus did. So perhaps Berk is a viking settlement at Iceland. So that might explain the Scottish accents, while they live on an island off Iceland. "... blablabla SINCE VIKINGS FIRST SAILED HERE" < From that quote I can tell the citizens of Berk aren't natives.

All I ever say on Facebook when someone asks is "It's pretty far north."

All I ever say on Facebook when someone asks is "It's pretty far north." I'd say that's a very educated guess.
