It annoys me but amuses me whenever someone asks me "Where do you live?" or "Where's Berk?"

To me it doesn't really sound like these questions are related though... ?

Considering I play Hiccup in a Facebook RP, sometimes I forget that people don't realize/know it.
There was this one chick, ever day the same conversation. Her: "Where are you?" Me: "Berk." Her: "I mean where do you live?" Me: "Berk." (five minutes later) Her: "No really, where do you live?" Me: "Berk." Her: "Forget it."

Ooooh, haha, I see! That's rather hilarious, actually. But I see how that can become annoying.

Every single day, three weeks. She finally figured out I wasn't going to talk OOC.

I have noticed something that may deal with my Iceland theory, considering the fact the Iceland has BIPOLAR weather.
In the mobile game for cell phones, they capitalize things like "Meridian of Despair" like you would expect. But they also capitalize "Freezing to Death". Is it possible that "a few degrees short of freezing to death" may not mean degrees temperature wise, but instead in the locational way? For all we know, Freezing to Death is the name of a nearby island. XD
(yes, I know this is a longshot, but that's my favorite kind of shot)

I noticed that they capitalized those things, too, Baney Cake! *just read this entire thread, hai* Before reading through all your facts and stuff, I had NO idea as of where they lived. I never really thought about it, to be honest. I thought that it was just, ya know, a random island out in the middle of nowhere in an alternate universe. But now that I've read through all this stuff... I agree that they live in Iceland. *agreeing, yay!*

And no, Misery is not an actual meridian and Freezing To Death is not an actual island. It's a 'figure of speech'.

Well here's a map of all the places the vikings ever settled/conquered in. Judging from geographical areas, they could be from Norway, Ireland; Heck, according to this map, they could even be Canadian. ;D

I highly doubt that they are from Ireland, since from the movie in the "romantic flight" scene, you can clearly see the north light in the sky. The whole UK is then out of the question.

Well there's a place in Ireland called the Giant's Causeway that closely resembles the place where Hiccup and Toothless meet up with all those Terrible Terrors.

That picture is a BIT too close the the movie to be a coincidence! This only makes me a bit surer of them being in Iceland (and their ancestors traveling from Ireland). Maybe they used the point as a reference at one point?

I´m from Iceland and I don´t think it takes place in Iceland, for example Hiccup says at one point and here´s some nice Icelandic cod, which kind of states that it isn´t Iceland since if it were he´d just call it cod. I think that the Shetland islands is the likely place ( that would explain the scottish accent www.vikingshetland.com/images/globe_web.jpgI think everything points to there. The only thing I could think of is whether Here is a bit about vikings in Shetland: Shetland was colonised by Norsemen in the 9th century, the fate of the existing indigenous population being uncertain. The colonisers gave it that name and established their laws and language. That language evolved into the West Nordic language Norn, which survived into the 19th century. And finally here is a picture of northern light in the Shetland islands move.shetland.org/environment#
