Well, seeing this movie, and trailers for Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Despicable Me, a new Harry Potter movie out every year, and various others, I got to thinking about what other books might make interesting movies. I'm sure everyone here's got at least one they'd love to see. So...what are they? What're they about, and why would you want to see it? I got three off the top of my head: "The Wish List." It's by the same guy who did the Artemis Fowl series, and I must say, it's pretty good! (Also, surprisingly dark in a way, for a tween/teen book, since the threat of the lead character going to Hell is always there.) Basically, a young delinquent girl named Meg Finn is killed in the beginning of the story in a gas explosion, and it is expected she'll go straight to Hell. But, since the last thing she did in life was a good deed, defending the elderly man she'd originally planned to rob, her total good deeds and bad deeds are dead even. If she wants to get into Heaven, she has to do more good deeds, as a ghost. So she goes to the last person to see her alive, the elderly man she'd tried to rob, and they try to complete his "wish list," three things he wants to do before he dies. It ain't easy, though, since her partner-in-crime did go to Hell, and has come back as a malevolent spirit, along with an assistant of the Devil, to try to corrupt her further. ...It's also surprisingly lighthearted at times, despite the premise, and the ending will leave you misty-eyed, I swear. Argh, I forgot the title of this one! But it was about a young man who was meant to train and keep various monsters (invisible to normals) inside a mansion and prevent them from harming innocents. The villain releases the most dangerous monster, a creature that eats runaways and orphans, and he, a young girl, and another orphan have to try and capture it, while at the same time outwitting the villain. And yes, this was aimed at kids. Obligatory Dragon-related title: "Dealing With Dragons." Why? Because the way it lampshades traditional fairytale cliches and character-types is funny without being annoying, Kazul the dragon is freaking awesome, and Princess Cimorene is the snarkiest, most deadpan and awesome princess I've ever had the pleasure of reading. XD

Dealing with Dragons movie = an absolute necessity.
Out of the Silent Planet by CS Lewis. It's an awesome sci fi novel, with lots of snarky humor and a series of awesome aliens. It's about a fellow named Ransom who is kidnapped and taken to Malacandra (aka, Mars), where he is afraid of the aliens at first. But throughout his adventures, he slowly comes to see the aliens and human and the humans as alien. It's kind of hard for me to describe it here, so you all should just read it yourselves and absorb the awesomesauce. xD
Redburn by Herman Melville. I read this for one of my literature classes this year and fell in love with it. Wellingborough Redburn is a naive boy who wants to take up a life of sailing, so he does. He realizes just how hard it is, and how dark the world is, and has to grow up or be trampled by life.
And although I've only read bits and pieces of them, I hope Chris Sanders and Dean Deblois translate the rest of the HTTYD books into movies. ^^

They're making Guardians of G'hoole into a movie? Do want.
Also wanting a movie of:
Artemis Fowl Warriors by Erin Hunter Animorphs I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! I WANT IT SO BAD. A better Alex Rider movie, the UK made one is crap. The directing was all...off.

Pern.
Pern Pern Pern Pern Pern.
Particularly Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and The White Dragon. Or The Masterharper. Mm Robinton. But we get him in those three books, too, so it works. XD
There's just so much material to work with. I mean, ultimately, in the end, I am naturally terrified they would screw it up so badly. I saw the Percy Jackson movie after reading the books and seriously wanted my money back. So not worth the $7. So I'm always scared it'll turn out like that.
But then I see what directors have done with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, and I hope beyond all hopes that they could get a good cast and crew and do Pern just like it should be done.

Animorphs is so insanely awesome but the TV show was vomit-inducing. I'm afraid some dumbass like the dude who directed The Lightning Thief will get a hold of the movie rights and totally wreck it.
The Hunger Games. If and only if it's directed by some awesome director. It's too delicate and odd of a plot to mess up.
The Katurran Odyssey. Seriously. Magical. If you haven't read it, read it. They'd either have to get some amazing animal trainers or really cool animation for it.
Dragonlance. PLEEEEEASE O MOVIE-MAKING GODS! *falls down* It's also a very delicate plot and would need superb acting and directing and special effects. It'd be alot of money, but one movie for each /every two-three books (discluding the Lost Chronicles and the non-Weis/Hickman books). Yeeeah, six to twelve movies baby!
S'all I got for now xD

Oh, my gosh, I can't believe I forgot this one...
"No More Dead Dogs." This was...hilarious. And I think that it would be an even funnier movie! Basically, an awful football-player named Wallace Wallace (his first name AND his last name is Wallace. No, really) is given detention because he dares to say the book he's forced to read for English class sucks. One of his main issues with it is that they kill the dog, because it's so cliched and unnecessary. So, as punishment, he's made to join the Drama department until he apologizes, and it just so happens they're putting on that very book as the school play that year. So Wallace Wallace and a few other kids decide to change it up a bit. (Example; "One of the things he had done was change a line from 'We must look deep within ourselves to accept this tragedy.' into 'Your dog died. Get over it.'")

Umm...I dont read a lot so I cant put my 2 cents worth other than pushing for the Warriors movie. Really? I heard that Wood would voice Fireheart. But then again, I've heard rumors of Zac Efron voicing Fireheart(*cringes*). I'd like to see The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt made into a movie. Its humor actually struck me a funny, and it was a novel for teenagers. I also want to see Pride and Prejudice and Zombies made into movie(although I've heard rumors of there being plans to do so) and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters movie-ized as well.

There is a "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" movie in the works, as well as "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" and I've heard rumors of "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters." I am fairly sure these will all be pretty epic.
Oh, I'd rather like to see a movie of the "Magic Kingdom of Landover" series by Terry Brooks, excluding Witches' Brew (the last book), which was so horribly dry. They're the only books by him I like, and they've got such a fun premise.

"The Declaration" by Gemma Malley. About a future where drugs have made living forever possible, and the only way to have children is to "Opt Out" - that is, not take these life-prolonging drugs, so as to keep the human population from getting any more inflated. Children born illegally are called "Surpluses" and forced to be trained as housekeepers and slaves for older people who take the drugs. One Surplus, named Anna, is found by a new boy named Peter in her Surplus Hall, who tells her he knows the parents she hates for conceiving her. It's awesome, and I believe there is a sequel I have yet to read.

Found something on the warriors movie: Victoria has comfirmed the movie will be CGI, with very realistic looking cats. She compares the style to Aslan of Narnia. The movie will be coming out in 2011.
The actors are: Chris Brown or Zac Efron as Graystripe/Graypaw, Liam Neeson as Lionheart, Elijah Wood as Rusty/Firepaw/Fireheart/Firestar, Rihanna as Bluestar www.pictures-of-cats.org/warrior-cats-movie.htmlI'd like to see a The Fire Within Movie.

What is wrong with Zac Efron? I think its better than Chris Brown!! I think it would be good, and I find it suiting.
