First off, I'm kind of amazed that this name is still available.
Secondly... Hi. I'm Berk. Obvious perhaps, but I felt like it would still be polite to say so.
Anyways, I became a very huge "How to Train Your Dragon" fan about... 5 days ago. The movie was on TV and I by chance happened to turn to it and... I loved it.
It's an amazing movie-- the dragons, the music, the setting, the characters... I'm a bit busy today but I'm going to do a big gushing segment about why I love this so much soon (weekend?). I have a thing with stories. Every once in a while I come across a story I truly love and I embrace it entirely. "Dragons" is one of those for me. It's an incredible world with incredible heroes.
And I'm glad to have found a community which I hope loves it as much as I do. To talk about it, and, of course, other stuff (because I'm not quite so crazy as I seem).
But yeah... hi guys. Hope to get to know you well.

HTTYD is one of those. I've kind of been obsessing about it ever since. My obsession phase will wane but I'll still love it. The fact that it's still ongoing is a big plus. As well as the fact that, well, there's a fan community to interact with. I was able to see the shorts (Netflix...) and about four of the episodes since (On Demand and the one which showed tonight). But yeah... I love the story. And, as I tend to find... good stories, when they're lucky enough to have fan communities, usually have fan communities with awesome people. So I'm exited to be here.

Hey Berk! Welcome. Glad to see a new fan around- it's good to know I'm not the only newbie, I joined a day or so ago. Maybe two. My name's Dorano, and I'm a huge Star Wars fan (check the avvie. :L) Yeah. Anyway, from what I've seen, we're a good lot 'round here. I think you'll like it.

Berk Oh, I see...Well, watch the other episodes if you can! I'm sure youLl have fun talking wit people here:) Already am. Yeah, I'm on the lookout. Cartoon Network doesn't air them as often as they should and, as a result, I must wait. I have a tendency to join fandoms after they've already taken off... no idea why.

There's a website I use called watchcartoononline.com. It's useful for viewing TV shows when they're not on or recorded. Try it, if you want.

Ah. Maybe so. Thanks for the tip.
Anyways, I'd assume T11 would probably know this better but... I was just curious. How active is this forum? In terms of posting and active membership? I'm just curious as to how big the community is (and if you know of others).

Well, the forum itself isn't THAT active...Most of the fandom is over at tumblr. It's VERY active there. Though I do kinda wish this forum had way more people than it does now. But it's not dead either. Definitely not like how it was back when I joined

But it's not dead either. Definitely not like how it was back when I joined Hm.... we should fix that. I really have never figured out how to use tumblr. Maybe I should. Does it give you the opportunities to talk to people like a forum? Anyways... yeah. I've been making some posts around. Hopefully this weekend when I have time (maybe), or sometime soon anyways, I can do my big gushing review/thought-spill on How To Train Your Dragon (it will be... 1 week today actually). I should possibly also mention my plan to track down the directors/producers/etc. and send them letters. I warned you I was a bit insane. But that's a good thing, I think.

Most definitely, it is. Most forums I go to are full of loopy people. You get used to it.

Ah Yes. Well, as you see, this is sort of my HTTYD introductory period, so I'm very, very eager to talk about it. And watch it all the time. It's actually my 1-week anniversary right now, and I believe I've watched it daily so far (while doing other things, but still...). Many episodes too.
I'm also on a quest to track down the creators (movie) and send them, well, fan-letters, I suppose. Which isn't very easy. But I want to convey my "this-is-awesome" feeling to them and hope they keep the subsequent movies/show of the same quality and feeling.

You too. As long as there's enough good people to discuss the story and share our fanliness, I think I'll survive.
Although I'm also pretty intent on capturing the potential. HTTYD is an active and ongoing show, so we have the potential to develop a really active and awesome community.
But yeah, I really would like to get involved in whatever active fanliness we have around, so be sure to keep me posted about stuff.
I look forward to all of the future and awesome HTTYD (and even non-HTTYD stuff we can get into.
