Well, I "found" a copy of it. It seems to use models in the M3G format, where dozens of exporters exist for but not a single importer or converter.

Still no luck with the XBox models. To get at least a visual impression, I tried Seb's way and used the Wii version to dump the mesh out of a scene, then replaced the low-res Wii textures with the hi-res ones from XBox 360. With the help of Blender and Cycles, I turned this: into this: Well, at least something. Edit: enhanced Wild Skies model on the left, the console model on the right for comparison:

Wow that's really cool! Nice The comparison is awesome. Though to be honest, the Wild skies model is probably way better...And I don't like how in the Wii version they added the horn-spike things at the tip of the the wings. Just noticed it... Though I still wish I could play it... Cant find any uploads for the xbox or Wii version to play in an emulator. Luckily, I'm finally able to play wild skies on our new laptop, though

Though I still wish I could play it... Cant find any uploads for the xbox or Wii version to play in an emulator. Luckily, I'm finally able to play wild skies on our new laptop, though The horn spikes are anatomically the thumbs of the wings, which again are separate limbs with fingers. I don't really like them either, though. They make more sense on wyvern-like dragons, like the Monstrous Nightmare, since they're moving on the ground with their wings. Finding the image files indeed isn't easy, as the game is a few years old and not exactly as good and popular like, let's say, Crysis 3. Most Google results give dead torrents. I found the Wii version on a random FTP server that doesn't seem to be online right now: [a href="ftp://89.128.201.218/Public/wbfs/How to Train Your Dragon [SHDP52]/"]ftp://89.128.201.218/Public/wbfs/How to Train Your Dragon [SHDP52]/[/a] Nice result! XD Did you have any probems fixing up the mesh? I captured the mesh with 3DRipperDX and the result was perspectively distorted relative to the camera, so I had to figure out the correction parameters. Turned out that a scale factor of 1.5 for x/z and 0.75 for y were good enough, then the model just needed to be rotated. In case anyone is interested in the Blend file: ata4.info/downloads/dwd/tyd/nightfury_tyd.7z

I agree... Yeah Unfortunately...Why wasn't it so popular D: This sucks...I've only found the DS version, but it's not that great Haven't played it. Only seen screenshots oh...doesn't work then? That sucks. And I'll download that model sometime soon XD Oh and I forgot to ask...geez, how did you post Toothless' wings in the WS model like that? That thing is so hard to pose

;D Oh and I forgot to ask...geez, how did you post Toothless' wings in the WS model like that? That thing is so hard to pose It really isn't easy to pose the wings. Well, I had to fix some bones first before I could use it properly. The whole rig is pretty bugged, as mentioned in my first post. While making the picture above, I found out that you can't even rotate the lower end of the neck without subdividing the neck bone first. Ah hell, and the rig of the whole head is just a mess. Can't apply facial expressions properly, no IK for the eyes, no dilating pupils, functionless bones, duplicated bones...

OMG lol that's so funny XD I love it. Nice XD The WS model is so detailed..: What if it's the model they use in the series? Nah jk. Though it sucks that even this one has the awkward lame jaw that they gave Toothless... *Pose, not post Messed up. That really sucks Wish it were easier to do that stuff. Ive gotten really confused with the face too. So much rigging in the face...I dont get any of it Why can't this be much easier?? XD Well for the pupils you could just change the texture, though that would become annoying to do after a while...

Well for the pupils you could just change the texture, though that would become annoying to do after a while... Yep, that's how I did it until now. Well, not directly the texture but rather its mapping on the mesh. Blender doesn't seem to be able to keyframe the UV mapping, so it's really not an elegant solution. Therefore, I turned the pupils into a mesh shape that can be deformed by bones and also created a transparent cornea on top of it. Additionally, I cleaned up the face rig a bit to get rid of some useless bones and added the missing eye target IK bones. I also found out someone else is working on a pretty accurate Night Fury model for Blender: www.v3dt.com/models/night-fury/Comparison to mine: Which reminds me that the wings and fins of my model also need to be reworked...

Ohh I see. That's Interesting. Nice I can definitely tell the difference with the face rig now It was always annoying whenever I tried to click on one and always ended up clicking the other. Is that going to be an update for the uploaded model? Lol I've seen that model. I really love it. Probably almost exact to the movie one. He's uploaded some interesting videos and animations with it too. I believe he's still working on it even after nearly 3 years. I think it was 2 weeks ago that He uploaded a new picture to deviantArt.

Though it sucks that even this one has the awkward lame jaw that they gave Toothless... Could you explain what exactly is wrong with the jaw and how to fix it? I remember that being discussed in another thread, but I forgot about the details... Ohh I see. That's Interesting. Nice I can definitely tell the difference with the face rig now It was always annoying whenever I tried to click on one and always ended up clicking the other. Is that going to be an update for the uploaded model? I'm not sure if and when I'm going to upload it. It still feels too unfinished right now. Lol I've seen that model. I really love it. Probably almost exact to the movie one. He's uploaded some interesting videos and animations with it too. I believe he's still working on it even after nearly 3 years. I think it was 2 weeks ago that He uploaded a new picture to deviantArt. If it's really his very first model, it's understandable that it took three years to work on it. And the result is really good, other attempts mostly look like rough approximations to the movie model at best. Of course, I saved a lot of work for my version, since I'm using a game model as template. But I also don't work every day on it.

-Well I'm not sure if this model has it, but if you compare Toothless' head from the series with the movie/shorts, you can easily tell that the jaw is a lot...deeper? Like it's bigger. I think his head is too. That makes him look really different in some episodes when he's displayed at certain angles.
-oh...you want to finish fixing it first, then? What else do you plan on doing with it?
-Yes it's his first one, I believe. I think he's still working on it. He hasn't uploaded it unfortunately, though. Wait...excuse me if I'm wrong, but are you actually making your own with the help of the wild skies one? Or are you just modifying that one?

I think his head is too. That makes him look really different in some episodes when he's displayed at certain angles. Hm... okay. Still seems rather subjective. Without proper model references, this won't be easy to fix if there's really something "wrong". -oh...you want to finish fixing it first, then? What else do you plan on doing with it? Not sure yet, I mainly work on it to learn Blender. If I get/find/make better textures for it, maybe I could do more pose renderings. If I also manage to improve the rigging, I could try to actually do some animations with it. But I'll likely also take years until I'm that far. Another reason why I don't want to release it yet is because I've seen some nasty things made with the help of other fan-made models. Rule 34, you know. I don't really care that people create that stuff, but I also don't want to provide too good source material for that purpose. -Yes it's his first one, I believe. I think he's still working on it. I'm just modifying it with improvements.

-Well it's easy to tell the differences if you look at Toothless' head from the side, both on the movie/shorts and the episode. If you took two screenshots from both and look at them, it's noticeable. -Ah I see. Well, that's pretty cool. I wish you luck on that -Oh...Yeah Youre right Seriously, they shouldnt do that kind of stuff with this model -_- They probably will anyway, though...It would probably become quite well known if the final, fixed and improved version were to be released. If only there was a way to solve that issue -Oh okay. They're great so far ^^

Wow! Thanks for all the effort!! I love the dragon models and have made a short flight animation: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_Rd-sG77ewI'm very new with blender (3 weeks now) and I hope, you like it. I am fascinated by the improvements to Toothless. Can I download the new version anywhere?
