The prosthesis was made from leather and I believe that dragon's skin is nonflammable.

And dragon scales are not flamable, at least not according to any books I've read or movies I've seen. And alot of the prosthesis that like connected Toothless' tail to the saddle/peddles was metal so it would be less likely to burn/melt, maybe get softer, but not melt altogether.

I do not see what's there to understand ... the skin there is any living being scales have a coating of the skin that have only a few animals, dates that you also use google translator to tell me which country are you maybe know how to speak the language better
