Who knows. But the cast being in the series was something very important :/.

I just really hope that the voice we heard behind Astrid in that short clip isn't the one we'll be stuck hearing for the entire series. I understand that they will prob need to change out the cast, but at least get someone that doesn't have such a flat, average voice. The great thing about America's voice is that it was kind of pitchy which helped make Astrid a bit cuter. But I suppose the biggest problem will be finding a voice actor with a nasally voice like Jay's.

Okay IcelandicEel,
With the official announcement of the two upcoming direct-to-DVD shorts, one of which is titled "Book of Dragons" with a description that closely matches the content shown in that short clip that you uploaded to Vimeo, I would like to hear how you heard this was a "Walmart promo." I'm dying to figure out if that clip is indeed a excerpt from the "Book of Dragons" short.

Since I've also seen the original clip of the one released on vimeo, I can actually answer that question for you, oneill5491. First off, where me and IcelandicEel saw the clip was from a direct resume from a person who worked on the final camera work, which called that particular clip "Promotion: How to Train Your Dragon, Walmart". So, it will be a walmart promo, my guess is that it'll be the promo for the "Book of Dragons" and "Gift" release for walmart later this year.
Unfortunately, I can't provide a link because access to it is a tad tricky, but I'm sure IcelandiEel can agree with me on my explanation.

Ah, okay. We'll hopefully the comment I read on the YouTube video here: youtube.com/watch?v=2-kEmJ13LKM is accurate in saying that all the original voice actors returned to do these (including America Ferrera).

Hmm, that comment is interesting, though I wouldn't automatically believe someone claiming to have worked on it, but I'll believe it for now. And I don't see it being completely impossible for the original voice cast to return. on Jay's wikipedia page, it does mention that he's working on the 2012 tv series, and America Ferrera doesn't seem to have much going on except for the sequel.
As for the others, the voice of Ruffnut and Snotlout do tons of tv voices, so I don't think it's so odd for them to be returning, and Craig Ferguson seems to keep coming back for the voice of Gobber. The only two I'm really worried about is Stoick and Tuffnut. Granted, most of these voices can be replaced with out too much change, but certain voices (such as Hiccup, Stoick, and Gobber) need to stay the same to avoid major cringing.

Well, if were gonna ask him stuff we can only ask him stuff like "Exactly how many shorts is there gonna be, 3 or 2?" We can't ask him stuff that will spoil the short or else he won't get here.

Yeah, well I really do know there are three. But I would be interested to hear what it's like working on the HTTYD shorts versus the movie. I don't really know much about animation, but layout seems interesting.

OMG!! Oneill actually beat me to it. He poste that the dude replied saying that Gift of the night fury has the same cast, writers and everyone that participated making the original film! Thoug he doesn't know about book of dragons though. It looks dumb just by looking at the cover . He also said that the sequels are coming out pretty nice XD.
