So this is a little sonnet I wrote for my Creative Writing class in my first semester of school this past year, and I'm actually quite proud of how it turned out. I'm not really that big of a fan of poetry, and I especially hate writing it, but I thought I'd share this poem with you guys because I'm actually quite happy with how it came out. ^^ This is War[/u] When your hand slipped from mine that last morning, It felt as if my heart had been torn out. It did not help that the rain was pouring. I really only had your name to shout. I understand that you went to be free, But my thoughts can’t take in your face blood-stained. I’m proud that you’re fighting for your country, But I can’t say that I’m not hugely pained. Why did this thing have to happen to us? Around the globe, like you, there’s no other. I notice your old bike gathering rust; I’m so alone without my big brother. Like an endless game of much blood and gore. I can’t stop thinking, “My God, this is war.” So yeah... My Creative Writing teacher really liked it and said that I should try to enter it in some sort of contest or something, but I don't know if I'll do that. I might try to get it published in some sort of writing magazine or something, but I don't know about a contest or anything. XP[/center]
