Are you people kidding? This is an animated movie. Roughly 3 years has ALWAYS been about how long it takes to make one. They JUST started the storyboarding process, they haven't even started recording lines yet, let alone any of the actual animating. Have a little patience and learn a little something about animation before freaking out and trying to make demands to Dreamworks.
When Pixar was making UP an animator could only really produce about 4 SECONDS of animation a WEEK. Luckily they had 60 animators so the output was 4 MINUTES a WEEK, which still equals a LONG FREAKNG TIME.
Get over yourselves.

Well, the problem is that most people can't wait that long. By that time the movie will be considered "old". None of us will have interest in it by then. We could've waited till 2013 but in 2014, I'll almost be in freaking high school! (Yeah I'm 12.)

Yes, most people CAN wait that long. Toy Story came out in 1995. Toy Story 2 came out in 1999. Toy Story 3 came out 2010. That's a time span of 15 years. Was there still a fan base? YES. Did people drop dead from having to wait that long? NO. A good movie is a good movie regardless of how long it takes to make it.
Will you, personally, not still be a fan when you're 15? Maybe. Who knows. Will the rest of the members of this forum still be fans in 2014? Most likely. But if they're not? Who the hell cares? The movie will just earn new fans.
And really, your age has nothing to do with anything. I've been a fan of Lilo & Stitch for almost 10 years. I haven't abandoned it because it's 'old'. It doesn't stop being good because it's almost as old as you are. But if you want to bring age into it, I was 26 when Dragons first came out. I'll be 30 when the sequel comes out. That doesn't bother me in the least. I'm a fan now, I'll be a fan then.
If a movie is good then it's good. The end. It doesn't matter if it took 3 years to make or 30.

Lol, the truth, TS3 sucked. I once read in Yahoo that it wasn't a good movie for little kids, and I know why. By 2014, HTTYD might even suck as well possibly having PG-13 content or such. I really wish they wouldn't make the sequel, cuz in some way it's REALLY going to suck (dreamworks suck at sequels; they just ruin the original film.) When Madagascar 2 came out, It sucked so much to me that I actually lost tall my interest in it, rand it's series sucked even more that the movie isn't a Film that I would like to watch even for little entertainment. If I manage to still be a HTTYD fan by then, Irtysh just by watching the sequel (and if it sucks which is more likely possible), then of course I'll lose all my interest. Even by watching the series will i hate it more. When I watched the Legend of the Bonekanpper, the truth is that I didn't like it at all. To many enological and dumb stuff that just ruin the original film. This shows that dreamworks will also suck run the series and the sequel. Kung Fu panda 2 is out and theaters; I already watched the trailer and it looks REALLY boring. So most likely that the sequel and series of HTTYD will suck. That's why it would be better if none of them were made.

Okay, I am having some serious problems following your logic. If the sequel is bad, how does that effect the original? The original is still there, it still exists exactly as it always had. How does a bad sequel change that? It seems to me that you're simply fickle, and that's really just your problem, not Dreamworks. Like I've already said, I'm a huge fan of Lilo & Stitch. After the movie Disney turned it into a television series that was in all honesty, quite awful. The Japanese anime is a flat out abomination. But do you know what I do? I ignore them. I still love and watch the original movie on a regular basis. Who cares if the series/sequels were bad? It doesn't change the original. Hell, the series wasn't even written by the same people. So of COURSE it was going to be different.
But for Dragons, they ARE having the same people write it. Dean Deblois is completely trustworthy. And Chris Sanders is back as a creative consultent. They won't let the sequel go to crap. So WHAT if Madagascar2 was crap? It wasn't written by Chris and Dean. It has NOTHING to do with Dragons. Neither does Kung Fu Panda 2, which by the way, I saw and thought was better than the first one. You're looking for ties that simply aren't there. You might as well be saying "Dragons2 is gonna suck beacause....because..... um.... i've got new socks on." You haven't pointed to a single solid reason that Dragons 2 would be bad.
Was Boneknapper bad? It wasn't spectacular, but again it wasn't written by Chris and Dean. They weren't involved with it at all. And yeah. the tv series WILL probably be bad. It won't have the original voice cast and won't have Chris and Dean so likely I won't watch it. But the series isn't the sequel and shouldn't be lumped in with it.
You need to learn to judge things on its own merits and facts instead of just linking random things together.
And what's your problem with TS3? I thought it was the best out of all the TS's. And it was the fact that they DIDN'T dumb it down for little kids that I liked most about it. If you thought TS3 was hardcore you should have seen the kids movies that were out when I was little. Parents dying, villians being stabbed through the chest or falling to their deaths. I can't believe I'm old enough to be having a 'kids these days' rant, but seriously. I don't remember kids being such pansies back in my day.

Well perhaps you're right about the sequel; it may be good. Seriously, they shouldn't make the series at all. Just by watching the Madagascar series, i can already imagine what horrible piece of crud the HTTYD. Series will be. Well TS3 included stuff that wasn't good for little kids (if I could, I would send you the link from what Yahoo had said.)

When I was about nine years old, in 2003, and heard about animated movies still being released in 2010, I was worrying I would lose interest in them in favour of 'real, grown-up' films. Well, it's 2011 now, and I'm fifteen, and I still prefer animation over anything else.
I think I can wait that long, because How To Train Your Dragon 2 deserves to be a great movie. I'd rather wait and get a great movie that equals the original than get it immediately and be able to point out a lot of flaws.

3 years till HTTYD 2 ;__________; Anyway: They have just started the pre-production and If You look at their schedule: about 3 movies/ year..... 4 movies in 2013 would have been overkill....... Just look at in the bright side: they have +1 more year to make things right..... that means longer story building, (pre)/production etc. The schedule: thefilmstage.com/2011/03/08/dreamworks-reveals-animated-release-schedule-through-2014/BTW: 1 DAY AND 3 YEARS TILL HTTYD 2!!!!!!!!

I don't remember kids being such pansies back in my day. WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! What the- WOW! All he was saying is that Dreamworks has a slight tendency to make not so good sequels and he feels that if the sequel/series is bad he might feel as though people will see the WHOLE HTTYD fandom as being wierd evenif the first movie was great. He does not wan't a crappy bunch of stuff ruining what he sees a perfect already. It's like getting a cake and putting gross icing on top just cos you can. If that is not how you feel aboutthewhole subject then its fine, infact i feel the same way you do. All im saying is that you didnt have to freak out at Toothless11. And on the subject of TS3, ALL that we were saying is that COMPARED to the other TOY STORY MOVIES it seemed like it was madeforan older audience. It didnt bother US, it just seemed like they could have scared some VERY young children. I mean, I watched freaking M (PG 13) movies YEARS ago and im only thirteen!
