If they are to realease a sequel I think it would be better to not realease it to long, I mean, by that time HTTYD might be totally forgotten because of more movies like TS3 and this forum might even be completely dead. By that time HTTYD might eve be considered as "An old classic." And who knows, with so many years that may have passed the filmakers might move the film from a family movie, to a PG-13 and above, containing weird stuff like TS3 does. I think it would be better if it was officially canceled. I'm planning sending an email to dreamwork with my opinion about te sequel.

Okay.....seriously!? I'm going to be freakin' 17 when this movie comes out, and I'm only 13! Gosh....I'm really mad at Dreamworks right now.
Although I understand that TS3 is really popular, I doubt the HTTYD is going to die down. Lets look at Shrek for example. Shrek is still really entertaining to audiences, and the franchise is still going on. It's been like what, 9 years since the first film? And they're still making films relatable to Shrek. (The Puss in Boots one).
Anways, I seriously wanna see the sequel....like now. DANG IT!

That's rediculous. Most movies' sequels don't come out 4 years later. Maybe they're just saying that to make it look better when (if) they release it in 2012 or something?

well, for whoever is gonna email for a sooner sequel make sure the email is VERY deep. dont just be like "i honestly think it will be better if you make it come out earlier..."
say somthing deep and try to get through to them and if many people do this then maybe theyll get the message. so like this "Think of all the fans who you have let down, by the time this movie is out they all will have just about grown up, no doubt not interested in a movie which came out 4 years ago. And the silly thing is that if you make it come earlier the fans will love you for it and it will keep them interested long enough for you to make a third and everyone will be happy. i know countless amounts of people who were devastated when they heard this news and it breaks my heart that i wont see it till 2014. Ive already wasted 3/4 of my year waiting for you to release the dvd, please dont destroy anymore of my life..." please dont copy and paste what i just wrote, im using it in my email and if we say the same things word for word they will be sus. it wont work that way.
