I have one problem with this thing... IS RED DEATH EVEN IT'S NAME? DX
I know I told you to title it this but... seriously, it's confusing. The soundtrack title for the final battle is "Battling the Green Death", but the chapter book and the games call it "Red Death".... SO WHICH IS IT?
Also, that thing is U-G-L-Y.

I dunno, but I do know that apparently the original book called it the Green Death. Maybe the guys on the soundtrack got confused? (I had heard it was called the Queen Dragon, but whatev. Still scary and ugly.)
I...was NOT expecting that thing to show up, let me tell you! And dear sweet mercy, was it huge!

I hadn't actually seen much of the Read Death before the movie so when it just... POPPED UP I screamed like a little girl. Like half the kids in the theater. XD
Seriously, that thing was just... WOW. Not expected. I mean I expected SOMETHING because I read the book but still. WOW.

I don't think ANYONE who didn't read the book (*coughmecough*) expected it...I had a similar reaction, just....minus the screaming. ^^;
"Huh...well that's weird...Do they just not like eating them? But then why both--*lean back in chair* JESUS FREKING CHRIST!" I tell you, when it actually came out, and they all had to fight that thing, and the chasing towards the end...I was digging my fingers into the armrests, my heart was pounding, and I was muttering "Getoutgetoutgetoutgetouttathere!"

No one screamed at my theater. But you could just FEEL the air get sucked out of the room, like everyone was thinking, "Oh...crap..." What got me was when Hiccup and Stoick were having their father/son "well done son guy" moment right before Hiccup and Toothless joined the battle. I was sitting there thinking, "Don't do it, don't do it, GTFO GTFO GTFO!" And the fact that Red Death had six eyes seriously freaked me out. Not sure why. o0O_O0o ^^

Isn't the official name is Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus...? That's a mouthful. xD Or that could be a different dragon altogether...

The book and soundtrack call it the Green Death... The movie calls it the Red Death...
...But it's blue! What about the Blue Death? xD

Taken from TV Tropes, this seems like a VERY good theory:
# Mass Hypnosis: Strongly suggested that this is the mechanism that the Green Death dominates the dragons — it sings an irresistible song to them. Even Toothless is not entirely immune. As the Green Death in the book is all about singing, this is a subtle Shout Out to the original. When the singing stops...

Yea, that seems plausible.

I was left wondering why the dragons had to go and feed it, considering it wouldn't make much sense of the Red Death itself left it's cave to go punish just a single dragon that might not come back to feed it, and perhaps it makes more sense with that theory, it must be producing a sound that is hypnotizing dragons to bring food to it against their will.
I freaked out deep inside even when seeing that Gronkle get eaten alive...

I personally thought the whole "Queen Bee" theory of why all the other dragons came were all feeding the Red Death didn't really fit. Personally, I think its more like in those old movies that take place on a volcanic island and the villagers have to throw a virgin into the volcano to appease the gods so death and destruction won't befall upon them. I think its more like that, only the dragons must appease their "god" by feeding it so they won't end up being eaten themselves.

Hm... that is a good theory Tanuki! I always thought along similar lines to that myself.
