This crummy piece of crap laptop jams and locks up whenever I run into a post made by ANYONE with a moving sig/avvie, and completely kicks me outta Safari (I'm on a Windows XP laptop, but downloaded Safari cuz I lahvs eet). I'm getting a new-ish laptop sometime soon, but I don't know when (and it's driving me NUTS... someone offered to GIVE me their laptop, for free, which has barely ever been used..... and they haven't said a word about it since! 8'C), and once I do I'll probably be able to get on a lot more often. This stupid laptop is freakin' old and slow, and I've been having issues with it for more than 2 years now, so my time on the interwebs is limited.

I'm not ignoring you guys, or being lazy and just not posting.... I really WANT to but I'll probably wait until I get this newer, faster laptop before I post more often. So umm, yeah, I totally miss you guys and it's been weird not posting here a lot. 8C

I was going to, but her mom just passed away and on top of that, her career keeps her quite busy (she works for an insurance company). I'd just feel bad bothering her about the dumb laptop right after she's lost her mom, you know? (Not that she and her mother had the greatest relationship, and she doesn't seem to be having a hard time with her death. I just decided to stay quiet about it and figure her husband will get all her stuff off of it soon enough.)

Apparently I'm getting a brand new IBM ThinkPad, which isn't really the prettiest laptop in the world, but from what I've read very reliable and durable. My only qualm is it's coming with Windows Vista, which I'm not particularly fond of. :/

This poor laptop is pretty much past the point of saving.... we could get a new fan and stuff for it, but the money it'd cost to repair it entirely could probably buy us a brand new laptop, so for now I'll be all set with this [free] hardly-been-used IBM until one fine day I can get the MacBook Pro of my dreams. <333

I suggest getting a PC, they're a lot cheaper than laptops while having better specs and performance. I'd have to pay 2000EUR now for a laptop with the same specs as this 600EUR PC I bought last year.

MOAR COMPUTER ISSUES.

I'm seriously ready to tear my hair out.

My mom's computer died (AGAIN. Seriously, I'm not joking - we've had this HP Touchsmart computer since Nov '08, and we have had NONSTOP PROBLEMS since we got it.... this is the FOURTH TIME it has died on us. NO joke), so I basically have to give her the laptop until we can get the Touchsmart to my uncle, have him look at it, fix it, whatever he needs to do, and I have no idea how long that's gonna take.

And because that lady STILL hasn't given me that laptop, after what, over two months...? I'll have VERY limited access to the internet, cuz my mom's an internet hog.

I'm so sorry tani and Indie, I probably won't be able to post in RPs or chat with you guys for a good while until we get this fixed around, which really sucks. ;_______;

I've used eMachines and had little trouble. Maybe you should try one of those?

We had our own failure streak with computers here a few years ago, and it's quite tiring... But it can't last forever! Remember that statistics will eventually hate someone else at some point and let you have peaceful years of web browsing... Someday.

I'm not sure what the shouting rules are like here, BUT I'M SO EXCITED I CAN'T HELP IT. 8'DDD

Not only that, but my uncle stopped by a couple nights ago to look at my mom's dying computer, and said it might be an issue with the memory.... sooooo we ordered some new memory and we're going to see if that fixes the problem. My uncle was able to get on the computer through the 'back door' and back up the extra files we needed just in case we have to restore it again, but STILL. THERE'S FINALLY HOPE FOR IT.

Another thing....? I was so close to coming home with a 21in iMac from Best Buy yesterday..... the only thing that prevented me from doing so was the fact that they didn't have the model I wanted in stock. D: If they had had it, sure as heck I would have brought that thing home with me. We happened to have enough of the money on hand to bring it home that day!! Mom said maybe for my birthday, we'll call ahead and see if they have any in, and make a trip downstate to go get it. dskfjaldkfjaksdjfksajfl *dances with joy*

Haha, I'm really loving having a laptop so far, but already it's showing signs of typical Vista slowness and incompatibility, and it's only been a few days. D: (Only after I installed iTunes and Safari did I see these issues. That's not new, it was the same way on Mom's comp - Vista hates Apple with a passion. xDDD)

If I'm patient, I'll work around the issues and in the meantime keep figuring out ways to prevent them or keep them from flaring up.
