The whole three choices of death-by-dragon, sickness or the childbirth theory just don't sit right with me. (I haven't read the books yet so forgive my upcoming thought process, I've only watched the movies) What if she left on her own one night. After all, when Hiccup and Stoick are arguing about what happened in the killing ring after Toothless saved him from the monstrous nightmare, Stoick is saying "I should have known," "I should have seen the signs!" Which leads me to think that perhaps "Valka" or "Valhallarama" very likely began too learn about the dragons true behavior herself. But, she lacked the necessary proof it took to finalize her theory. This might have lead to multiple arguments between her and Stoick on whether to test the theory and without her husbands approval and the villages likely angry reaction to such an idea, if it was ever brought up to be considered, she had no choice but too leave berk too study on her own.
This in turn would force her to fake her death by perhaps an "accident" during a fishing trip, or a personal voyage to the dragon island, where the only thing to be found would be a few pieces of her armor and some boat debris.

Shouldn't we change the name of this topic?
It's now been established that her name is Valka, not Valhallarama.
I wonder why they did this?
And we now know she isn't dead at all, it's just Stoick thought she was killed when Cloudjumper took her away when he was really taking her to the home of the Alpha.
Yes, now that've I've seen her for real, I do wonder about the size of the helmets! I'm assuming this was because the animators assumed she was based on the stock standard viking female model and when we see her, she's not much different in size from Astrid.
