Treasure Planet similarities in HTTYD

So, um, am I the only Treasure Planet fan who was seriously reminded of it during the How to Train Your Dragon movie?

The flying dangerously through huge rocks, Hiccup not fitting in/getting into trouble, his parent being disappointed in him...anybody else catch this stuff?

If you mention it, yes. Though initially I would not have made the comparison. On a seperate note, I think this movie is way to hated and underrated. I personally enjoyed it. The animation was just stunning too.
