Gee, such a lovely name isn't it? XDDD Being the bully of the group, of course he has to have the nastiest name! XDD AND of course being the bully he HAS to have a Monsterous Nightmare as his dragon. Of course it's only second best to a Night Fury like Toothless! X3

Must be named after his dad (actually the background character Spitelout, you know who I be talkin bout). I actually thought he reminded me of a shorter and meaner Jack Black... He seems to act like him!
Poor guy will probably never get a date though, with those horrid pick up lines.

My favorite part of him in the movie was his "Where ya goin?!". It was just so... funny!

XD If he was supposed to be a bully, he was a pretty ineffectual one. I mean, any and all attempts at looking tough or cool, I noticed, ended with him being scared or otherwise humiliated.
Still a funny character.

"Why read the words when you can just KILL the stuff the words talk about?" Snotlout's awesome. I don't really think he was meant to be a bully in the movie (although they still describe him as such), just that 'awesome' guy. Besides reminding me of Jack Black, he reminds me of a guy I went to high school with. xD And you know what I've noticed about Snotlout recently? He's got some teeth knocked out...and he has man boobs...don't ask me WHY I noticed that, I just did...  |

I don't think he was supposed to be a bully at all. Just that really cocky kind of person who THINKS he can be better and hotter and more awesome than you... but really isn't and can't be, much to everyone else's amusement.
He's also a DORK. Did you notice the way he smiles and laughed when he managed to touch the Monstrous Nightmare without getting killed? He looked to stupid and yet so cute! And his "where ya goin?!" made you think that maybe he wasn't quite as brave as he thinks he is... like him almost refusing to touch the dragon didn't give you the hint.
But I love him. HE IS MINI JACK BLACK.

Yeah, second time I watched the movie, when he laughed like that I just went "Daw." It was just this moment of, "Oh my god...I'm actually doing something I never thought I would!" I've had a couple moments like that, just this overwhelming disbelief and joy. It just made him all the more real. And I never noticed him saying "Where're you going?" I gotta watch it again... |

The first thing I noticed when my Dad and I first saw him on screen was "OMG JACK BLACK!" XD Now whenever I listen to Tenacious D I keep imagining Snotlout and Fishlegs. o__o
He didn't seem like that big of a bully in the movie. Now in the games... ugh, he was a d**che! "No smiling around here! D:<"

Yeah, in the games they kinda... Overdid the bully aspect. He acted a lot like he does in the books, and I liked him much more in the movie BECAUSE he wasn't as bad as he was in the books.

Jonah Hill was perfect for Snotlout!! I loved when he was like "The sun was in my eyes, Astrid!!" but my favorite line from him was "I swear I'm so angry right now! I'll avenge your beautiful hand and your beautiful foot! I'll chop off the legs of every dragon I fight... with my FACE."
LOL my brother and I were quoting that for daaaaays... XD

That 'with my face' line is so totally a line you could interject randomly in everyday conversation. My sibs and I do it ALL the time. And, depending on the sentence you throw it into, it can make for a pretty awesome HtTYD-fied comment. xDD;;
Can't think of any that we've said off the top of my head, though....

Like the other day, I was playing the piano and my little brother and sister were like making a racket in the room, so I was like, "Will you guys be quiet?! I'm going to play a song - WITH MY FACE." And they just started cracking up and were like "Do it! Do it! Do it!" And I didn't even think about it before, but I agree with so many people here that he does look like a fiesty little Jack Black XD |
