If this is off topic, remind me.
But my question is, why do most species of the dragons have underbites? Gronkles, Nadders, and Zipplebacks all have them....I find it cute...and strange. Even the Red Death has one! I don't remember if the Monstrous Nightmare has an underbite, so far I can only point out that Night Furies and Terrors don't have them. Anyone else notice this?

Monstrous Nightmare had a BIG one. xD
It's kind of like crocodiles, I think. The teeth sticking out of the jaws like that.

I openly confess to laughing at this thread title XD
But yes, they all seemed to have one... Toothless doesn't because his teeth are retractable, perhaps? I think it is a lot like a crocodile. In one of the featurettes, it even says that holding the dragon's mouth shut will keep it from biting (just like a croc).

"The rest of the dragon, however, can do whatever it wants." lol, I love that featurette.
But yeah, I didn't actually make this connection to the underbites until you pointed it out. All of the dragons, with the exception of Toothless, has one. Interesting....

The Terrors don't have much of one at all though, so I guess only they and Toothless are exempt.
It's most likely because they are based on different reptiles for each dragon species. The Nightmare is DEFINITELY based on a crocodile, hence the over exaggerated underbite.

This is an 11-year-old thread, but whatever. It probably has something to do with being easier to catch fish or something, idk

Y'know, that's actually a fair point. I think it would make catching fish easier.
