I was about to check my e-mail for updated news on the spinner dolphin I'll be babysitting starting Wednesday (and actualy getting in the pool with, wheeee!), when I saw Hiccup and Toothless gracing the Yahoo! front page. The article was about HTTYD in a race back up to the #1 spot, possibly beating out Kick-Ass. I thought it was a pretty interesting news article. Teh link...I'm rooting for HTTYD all the way, got no interest whatsoever in Kick-Ass...^^;...

I'm thinking that HTTYD will beat Kick-Ass, if only because the former is a family-friendly movie, and the latter is very violent. It seems like a good movie in its own way, but it's not my type of movie and I know other people have a lot of problems with the portrayal of an 11-year old vigilante.

and I know other people have a lot of problems with the portrayal of an 11-year old vigilante. THIS. There was no reason at all to hire an eleven-year-old actress for such a violent role (and have her say the worst swear word in existance!), there are plenty of teenagers that are small enough to pull it off (hell, most of them are on campus; I'm a giant amongst really short girls, lol). I'm not meaning to sound like a tight-tailed momma dog here, but that's just my views on it...^^;

I do want to see Kick-Ass, but yeah, I'm betting on HTTYD beating it out, at least by a little. Kick-Ass isn't coming out during the summer-movie blockbuster EXPLOSION TIEM of the year. ... And Angel, this is irrelevant, but you work with dolphins? Cool! What aquarium? I don't know of many with spinners.

I work with the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network, a hospital that rescues stranded dolphins and rehabilitates them (I also work at a little aquarium called Sea Center, but there's no dolphins there, lol). That spinner, sadly, was one of the cases where the dolphin was rescued, but died shortly after. BUT, there are several happy endings, like Donley (<3!) that sweet little baby dolphin who got kicked out of his pod. He now lives at SeaWorld with his new mommy dolphin. ^^ Wow, that was a long answer to a short question. xD Also, why DIDN'T Kick-Ass wait until the summer to premiere? For that matter, why didn't HTTYD?

Well, I'm glad they're out now, cause I got to enjoy HTTYD now, and I get to see Kick-Ass tomorrow. 83

Personally, I prefer HTTYD. Kickass looks really stupid from the commercials anyways, lol.

Well, since opening it has stayed at #1 while HTTYD is #2.
HOWEVER, it's making as much as HTTYD is now. This is BAD for the Kick Ass as HTTYD's numbers now are much lower than the first two weeks thanks to it having been out for a month and most people have already seen it. It's been a week and Kick Ass has made $24,175,312.
HTTYD made more than that THIS WEEK. It's opening week was $63,125,872

OH WOW. That's a lot. Amazing how much money we have to spend at the theater. Also, kind of a subject change, how much did it cost to make the movie? Worldwide, last I checked, HTTYD made $300 mil, so did it match or pass its budget?

HTTYD's cost was about 161,000,000
Kick Ass was 30,000,000

Wow, that's a lot for HTTYD. But only 30 mil for Kick Ass? Doesn't seem like a lot.

Nope, Kick Ass is actually pretty low budget. I think the base or average budget is around 50,000,000.

I saw both, and while Kick-Ass was entertaining, it didn't have the same feel and charm to it that HTTYD had. When watching it, you could tell that Kick-Ass was a low budget film. The main character Kick-Ass (I already forgot his real name) was no where near as funny and as "witful" as Hiccup. HTTYD also had just a better storyline, one that really touched you. I hope I don't sound like I hate Kick-Ass, it was good and I enjoyed it, just not as much as HTTYD.
