Maybe it could start shortly after the battle starts. As for the OCs aboard the Trial, it could start with the Trial arriving at Earth in the midst of the battle. They could have been somewhat close-by, and were recalled to Earth when the covies arrived, just not close enough to get back before the battle went into full swing.

Will all our OC's be part of the Trial's crew? Or will the Trial arrive, carrying...say...our SPARTAN characters, which then go planet side and happen to coincidentally meet with the rest of our OC's (Except your Captain, who they would already know), then through a series of events, they have to re-board the Trial with their new tag-alongs and go on their own quest to stop the Covenant from doing...somthing. XD
XD Personally, I think the second would be interesting, but I'm open to ideas.

I like the second one also. I may not know UNSC or Covie stories outside the games too well, but I do know Forerunner. Could be they have to stop the Covies from activating some Forerunner device or installation or ship [again] after the Spartan team and ODSTs find some sort of clue. And there are plenty of Forerunner technologies that could be used for this case.

If need be, there are plenty of Halo rings XD But I'd like to avoid that option if possible. And it's not just ODSTs, depending on what the other members choose as their non-SPARTAN characters, it'll probably be a mismatch group.

Yeah, lets try to avoid the Halo Array, that's been done enough times through the canon. Shield Worlds have been used a lot too. Maybe a derelict but operational Forerunner Fortress-Class warship, with some remains from it's supporting fleet in various stages of decay?

That could be good. A lot of CQC action there, and chance for defensive drama. But I'd like to get my boots on the ground...errr...figuratively XD
So what if the derelict Forerunner fleet was in the gravity well of a planet (Which might have Forerunner ruins on it.). Then the Covenant could either try to build/utilize some contraption to get the ships out of the gravity well (Which we could then sabotage), or they have to use an old Forerunner system to get them operational again?

Maybe they could be dry-docked on one of the many worlds that the Forerunners completely remodeled. And the Covies are trying to get the Forerunner hard-light docks to release the warship(which we could interrupt/sabotage). Plus this scenario will give some opportunities for some space battles.

That's good, gives your Captain a chance to do more then just offer advice on a radio ;D
Okay, so we have a beginning and a plot-wide objective. The finer points can be hammered out when we're actually roleplaying it. How should it end?

Hmmm, maybe Forerunner tech planet-wide starts activating(could be a combination of covie and human tampering that sets this off) and the Trial and crew try to escape before planetary defenses activate, but some personnel(maybe some of our OCs too) stay behind to try and buy the others enough time to escape.

Sure thing Shade, look forward to it!
And hey, Shock, if you're using a SPARTAN-III, you should have a good reason for him being off of Onyx during Delta-Halo. XD Onyx is about to be invaded by the Covenant when the Chief first lands on Delta-Halo, so keep that timeline in mind. XP I think, but I could be mistaken, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Most of the III's were were deployed off of Onyx before then. Only the top teams stayed behind to compete for honors(Saber, Katana, and Gladius), so all but fifteen S-III's were already off-world during the Battle of Onyx. Xiphos is deployed to serve aboard the Trial, and so they are well away from Onyx.

Okay guys, here's a START on my form. I'm having some block, so I'll have to finish tomorrow. Also, what squadrons can I pick from? Let me know what you think.
Name: Matt Age: 20 Hair: Dark brown, almost black; short, but not really short if you know what I mean. Eyes: Dark brown Height: About seven feet Weight: Around 200-250 Gender: Male Branch: Spartan-II Rank: Colonel Squad: I'm not sure, I need some ideas for this. Voice: Low pitched and booming
Description: Big, muscular, dark brown hair, brown eyes, white skin, a small mustache and beard.
Demeanor: Very happy person around his friends, although can sometimes be rather frustrated and upset, and is somewhat of an introvert. He is also very loyal to them, and would do anything for them or for the human race. He is kind towards innocents, but will not hesitate to kill villains.
Abilities/Weapons: Standard Spartan armor; automatic rifle, handgun sidearm. Often picks up Covenant weapons if possible.
Disadvantages: Can be headstrong sometimes, and doesn't always think his plans through.
History: He was drafted into the Spartan program from a young age, like all Spartans. Even as a child, he was almost unnaturally strong, and would often get into fights with local bullies- usually beating them up. This attracted the attention of the program, and they took him.
Stuff: Sorry, I had so much block with this.
