Why is there an inconsistency with Book of Dragons

In the DVD Gift of the Night Fury, there's another special about how to train various dragons.

The ones I took particular notice of where the ones about the Scauldron and the Whispering death.

It says to befriend a Scauldron, all you have to do is pour water over yourself, which placates them.

And for the Whispering Death, it's fond of a good tooth brushing.

But in the show, when these dragons are encountered, they don't try either of these things.

This special also starts with how to tame a Thunderdrum, but we don't see this done either in the series when Thornado first appears.

I'm wondering why that might be.

Is the special ignored by the tv series?

Or is it because the series is about learning how to tame dragons that the Book of Dragons is not yet complete?

now i havent watched a majority of the television series, but it seems like the book of dragons short would be set a little later.

they would have to go to a lot of effort to find out specific things like brushing teeth so it makes sense that they would have to have quite a bit of experience before finding out these things then documenting them.

so if in the series they have only JUST encountered the whispering death and the scouldren, i guess its logical to assume they havent documented these things yet.

but maybe we're just not supposed to think about it haha
