Voice: she sounds something like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park
Description: Somewhat smaller than your average monstrous nightmare, "Betsy" - as she is rather unaffectionately called by the villagers - is still every bit as lethal. Her colors are duller and somewhat less vibrant, partly due to the fact that she's female and, like a bird, less "stand out" than the males. Most notable is her left wing, which is bent in a very uncomfortable position from a recent break.
Demeanor: Extremely unfriendly, at least to anyone who gets too close. She tolerates other dragons only when they and/or the Vikings that ride them bring fish up so she doesn't starve on her little rock roost. It's safe to say that the poor girl would probably be /considerably/ nicer if she wasn't in pain from that broken wing. She'll light herself on fire if anyone gets too close without her "say so."
Abilities/Weapons: Typical of any monstrous nightmare. She has a long, snakelike neck and tail, a mouth full of razor sharp fangs, and spines all down her back. Like most of her particular species of dragon, she can light herself on fire and her flame is particularly thick and goopey, causing it to stick and run down walls.
Disadvantages: Currently, Betsy cannot fly due to a badly broken wing that she will let no one touch. This same wing also makes it difficult for her to walk and she hobbles badly. She cannot open her mouth if it's clamped shut. Her generally unfriendly demeanor makes it extremely difficult for anyone to get particularly close to her.
History: Well, life for Betsy was much like life was for many other dragons before Hiccup befriended Toothless. She did her thing, raided for sheep (when she wasn't snatching up orcas), terrorized some villagers, flew on. It was in the raid right before the world changed for Viking and dragon alike that she received the injuries to her wing that prevented her from journeying far from the village. She kept hidden as best she could until after things settled down, and mostly only made herself known because... well, she was hungry.
Since then, many Vikings have tried to get close enough to help her. More than a few have tried to splint her wing, and more than a few have come back looking considerably more toasty than they left. She doesn't seem to be getting any friendlier, either, though she's at least letting people get close enough to leave her little morsels to eat.
Stuff: Betsy was a pet name given to her by one of the Viking women, and it sort of stuck. She doesn't seem to mind being called by it, either. While it's taking her some time to warm up... it's likely she'll come around sometime soon. Maybe.
