This thread is for any discussion about the most recent episode, "Gem of a Different Color."
I thought this was the best episode since episode 14. Fishlegs was the hero of this episode, and I have an unprecedented level of respect for him. The Changewings also look really cool, and elegant, too, with the ribbons on the sides of their heads. They remind me that I have to visit all the new dragons in Wild Skies. Also, I'm really glad that the RoB crew used music from the movie again - this time, with the theme during the dragon attack.

The music use was definately good. The use of the music when they decide they need to train one was really powerful. It gave the feeling that something really epic with Changewings is going to happen.
The Fishlegs part was definately good. Just like Twinsanity gave dimension to the twins, this one gave amazing depth to Fishlegs... his devotion to studying and caring for dragons as well as his extreme gentle but protective nature and his ability to stand up when needed.
Gustav was an interesting character to explore too. The younger dragon generation is intriguing.

It's funny. Just the previous week, I was thinking we needed a Fishlegs-focused episode. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but it certainly worked.
I also liked the character of Gustav. I hope we see more of him and more of the younger generation of Berk. I'm not sure, but I think he's the first child we've seen on the series.

I think we might have seen children before... but I don't think we've seen a child, well, do anything. They're kind of just background fodder or "oh look how cute these dragons are" fodder (GoTNF).
Anyways, it was a good episode.

It was interesting to see Fishlegs show his warrior side. A shame we didn't get to see how the fight at the end of the episode ended. I also liked the scene where it is revealed Snotlout is scared of Astrid, because when he tries to get the egg from Fishlegs by force, Astrid steps up and he backs off, passing off his fear as "I don't like to hit girls". Perhaps that should be rephrased as "I don't like to hit girls who will hit me back harder!". I also liked to see Gustav show up, we see so few children in Berk besides our principle teens. And also, bonus points for the return of Magnus (Hildegard)! "That's a baby? I thought it was a bundle of sticks wrapped in bacon".
