Felice saw the attacker coming at her father, heard her fathers roar for Grinch to get down as she ran off, causing her to pause. Yet fear drove her to keep going, until she heard paw steps and turned, gasping. It was Grinch.. He was trying to soothe her, yet at the same time he was telling her they had to get back to the cove, and fast. She nodded, and shot off, yelling back at him. Stay on the ground! There’s more cover down here! She hoped he could hear her, and as her legs thundered against the ground she finally caught sight of the cove.. Moments later she saw her father, dragging a scarred night fury, with a particularly ugly scar over his eye. She happened to see her mother, who seemed scared to death and hurried back into the cove. She stopped, looking around for Grinch..
As she did so, she realized what she had done.. she had attacked her father, her own blood.. She had hurt him, and she didn’t know how badly. Unsure of what the punishment would be, she sat down crying. If her grandmother were here, she knew things would be different.. Her grandmother had had this wisdom about her, this sense of knowing things and knowing if one thing was good intentioned or bad.. without even asking.. It was something she could never think anyone could do, little did she know it was a wisdom that came with knowing each of her clan mates so well, having grown up with them and raised most of them.. Having seen each of their dark sides and weak sides.. And knowing them well enough that somehow she just knew if it was an accident or not.. She bowed her head.. As much as her father had admired her grandmother, he just.. wasn’t.. her… And honestly she had no idea how he would react.. It was an accident.. but would he see it that way?
---
Luna heard the commotion and stepped towards the cavern entrance. What she saw made her heart pound. Felice, crying near the edge of the cove.. And her leader, dragging in a large night fury.. He was scarred, battered, and her leader injured but.. It couldn’t be.. it was.. Her heart nearly stopped as a fear gripped her and she backed up into the cavern. Stay here.. she whispered to Whip. She didn’t know how she would tell him… tell him that somehow one of her old clan mates was now in their land, had attacked his father.. Why were they here, what was the meaning of this?
And then it hit her.. That mission.. Had it been.. No, it couldn’t be.. It had been for some rival clan, and yet.. Looking to Whip, fresh fear in her eyes, she knew this couldn’t be good. She knew her clan all too well, and she knew how they operated. If they wanted her dead, she would be dead by now. The only reason why that old clan mate of hers hadn’t come after her himself.. was so because he had something bigger, something more sinister in mind.. Much more sinister.

Something seemed to put a fear in Luna's heart. Her eyes, body language; everything just seemed to go on high alert. All he saw was a battered night fury, being dragged into the prison. What she saw was probably her past. He knew it was a subject to never, never touch in depth, but this meant something to her. Something dreadful; worse than dreadful. She'd backed up into the back of his room, like she wanted to stay out of sight of him, even though he was unconscious. Perhaps she didn't see that in her panic? He tried to use his link to calm her down using a hushed, calm tone. Luna, he's not going to hurt you. He can't. You're safe here. Hopefully, it did helped. She looked like she was ready to run. Run as far as she could away from him.
He saw dad land, with a limp paw. It looked like he had a nasty scrap with it, with it biting his dad's paw before he could subdue him. The intruder had half a missing wing from where dad shot him. He wondered why dad didn't kill him outright, as cruel as that thought was. Because he was attacked himself, he could have done. Maybe dad had plans for him? He was sure he could hear crying, but he didn't know who was. Or what it was about.
-----
Thank the spirits, she heard him loud and clear. She shouted at him to stay on the ground and run; more cover. He obeyed. He overtook her on the way to the cove, and quickly informed the nearest guard what had happened. He and another guard shot off, much faster than he would be able to towards where Colt was. Hopefully he was OK. He was shattered, and found he'd just splayed out over the ground, heaving. He wasn't able to go back and find Felice; his body couldn't take another run like that. By the time Felice had caught up, they'd already lifted in the intruder and had begun to take him to the prison. She was looking for someone, but she just started to cry. He hauled himself off the ground, and walked towards her, legs aching still from the running.
Felice, it's OK. Colt's OK, calm down. It's fine. You're safe. He wrapped his wing around her to try and comfort her as best he could, and he gently pulled her towards his chest. He was willing to wait for as long as it took for her to realise it would be fine. That Colt knew she wouldn't attack him intentionally. He was sure he could hear a few links open up when he did this, though he didn't care nor did he pay them much attention. Felice needed him. He heard someone approach; it was Colt. He didn't look angry, but he wasn't sure what he'd say now.
-----
He had to be careful not to land on his paw. It needed treatment. He ordered one of the clan to prepare a few herbs for it and the two guards who had helped fly this beast back to take him down below into the prison. He'd interrogate him in his own time. Selene was in their room. He still wasn't sure where Felice was; in the midst of dealing with the intruder, he'd lost track of her. He hadn't realised it at the time, but she'd run off after realising who she'd attacked. His fatherly instincts took over, and he raised his wings, ready to fly again when he saw Grinch. She was crying.
He hobbled over to them. He was sure he heard a few comments about them. They didn't know that Grinch was rescued and not sired. In case they'd picked up on it, he gave a low, audible growl, followed with a link that would travel through the cove, warning them not to comment and he'd explain tomorrow. He shielded this link from Grinch and Felice. He got Grinch's and Felice's attention by opening a link with them. Thank you Grinch, for finding her. Don't mention a single word about Felice attacking me. I know she was trying to defend herself and protect you. You cannot mention this to another soul for as long as you live. I'll sort something out. He could hear one of the clan call out that the herbs were nearly ready, and he limped back to his room, where Selene was.
He limped into his room, greeting Selene before eventually settling down, and left his stricken paw outstretched so it could be treated. Those herbs had an immediate effect on his paw to numb the increasing pain. When it was finished, he thanked the herbalist and she left the room. He quickly fell into a sleep, and was thankful for it; tomorrow was going to be a busy day.

Luna had backed into a corner, and felt her fears start to overtake her. She looked to Whip, as he seemed concerned about her. He seemed to be trying to figure out why she was afraid, and she looked down, tears filling her eyes. She couldn’t tell him the truth; the truth that before she had ran off, her mission had been to be a spy for the clan.. to win her freedom.. She had disobeyed them and ran off, and this.. this was their revenge.. This could only end in horror, in her mind.. As Whip came to console her, the tears shook her.
She blinked through her tears. You don’t know them.. They’re.. They’re after me.. She whimpered through her link. She almost told him that meant they would be after everyone close to her as well, but somehow, looking into his eyes, she couldn’t bring herself to say it. She closed her eyes tightly, wishing and willing it all away. But it wouldn’t go away. The fact was that right now, that officer from her clan was planning his revenge.. She didn’t know what or how, but she knew that somehow, someway, if her clan got their way.. this would end in disaster.
---
Felice was crying, to caught up in her own pain to realize Grinch was nearby, collapsed. She only saw him staggering up and Colt talking with him, though she couldn’t make out their links. She made her way towards Grinch, nuzzling him. It was only then that she noticed the stares from the other dragons, and their odd expressions as she pulled back from the nuzzle. Like.. Like she was some sick traitor… Blinking, she couldn’t hear any of their links, something was shutting them off. But she didn’t need to. The fact that they were huddled around in small groups, eyeing her and Grinch.. said enough.. The clan knew.. The truth was out, and right now the pain had to come before the healing. Going into her cavern, crying herself to sleep.. When she woke she noticed the tension.. and felt responsible for it. She crawled to Grinchs cavern, nuzzling him. She looked to the cavern, that blocked link no longer hiding the rude comments from the clan, as they flooded her link as her clan mates wandered by, scowling at her as they each seemed to want a piece of her, to see what exactly was going on with her and Grinch. Looking back to Grinch, she had fear in her eyes. What do we do now.. She whispered..
---
After having seen her attacker from the past, and rushed inside, Selene was filled with fear.. After a bit, she had calmed and heard Colt come in, before she saw his paw, frowning. She saw them tend to it and sensed something was wrong, which made her instinctively wrap her wing around him to block off their links from the others.. As she did so she caught the scent of her daughter on his paw.. Frowning, she looked to him, but knew better then to question him right now. She rested her head on her paws, falling into a troubled sleep.
That morning the rumors were flying about the caverns. Rumors about all sorts of things, about Grinch and Felice, about who had attacked Colt, and about the intruder and what he was here for, and even some that dared to question if this intruder was a former friend of Luna’s. Sighing, she looked to Colt. I suppose we best face them now. She said quietly, nuzzling him to show her support. Perhaps a clan meeting is in order?

Out of earshot of everyone except Selene, he knew she could smell her daughter's scent on his paw. Thankfully, that was because she was her mother; only she would be able to. Selene's wing felt good right now. As he drifted off into sleep, he found that helped immensely. It was soothing to his troubled mind.
He felt her nuzzle him, telling him it was time to get up and to face them now rather than later. Some of the clan were up and about, links buzzing with activity and rumours abound. He tested his paw by pushing down on the ground with it. The herbs on his paw seem to do the trick. He still had to avoid putting too much weight on it, but it was enough to use again. Yawning, he rolled over onto his paws, and stretched as he normally did. He nuzzled Selene, saying I'll hold it in 15. Not everyone is up yet. He exited his room only to see Grinch and Felice being scowled at by a few clan members. He held back to urge to scold them, knowing that it would be explained shortly.
Everyone was up now. Now as the time for the meeting. He gave out the call, and the clan came to the meeting point. When everyone was in place, he walked up onto a small podium he began. Good morning. I understand there's a lot that's happened over the last few days, so I think it's time I explained now rather than later. He immediately rolled into the first point of call: the intruder. The intruder captured last night is a spy from another clan. He glanced at his paw, indicating the spy had attacked him. I'll be seeing him later to get the details and what his purpose was. There had been rumours of a night fury skirting our borders, but it was assumed that was merely a lost night fury or one that was trying to save a bit of time. From now on, if you see a night fury skirting the borders, report it to a guard immediately. We can't afford to take chances right now. This will change at a later date but for now this is now standard procedure. He paused for a moment, before rolling into the next point.
Now, I understand there have been... concerns about Grinch and Felice, so let me clear this up right now. Grinch was found as a baby within our borders when my family was of a similar age, with no parents and him injured, hence that mark on his tail. We took him in as part of our family. The clan all seemed to turn Grinch. He'd grown up considerably these last few weeks, so hopefully he could cope with this. They are not related. He knew this put them on the spot but if he'd let it slide, it would have only gotten worse. He knew that it would make them embarrassed of being with each other for a while, but from what he'd seen they'd pull through it. He gave a loud cough, to get their focus back to him.
He let a smile form on his maw. Finally, we have some good news. Whip is making good a good recovery. From what I've seen... and through personal experience, I'd give it around a week before he's up and about. From the seriousness of his injury, this is great progress. Any questions? No link opened. That is all. He walked off of the podium, sighing as the clan dispersed. He could hear some of the thoughts of the clan. Some were happy with what they heard, while a few others still wanted to know more about the spy. He swore he could almost hear an apology or two to them as well, though that may be just wishful thinking. He opened a link to Selene. Think I got everything? He sighed again and nuzzled Selene. His mind was whirling with different thoughts, but he couldn't pick one out right now.
-----
He took in every word Colt said. That Felice wasn't responsible for the attack, and he'd find a way round it. He breathed a sigh of relief. Grinch knew that the next few days would be hard. Even after Colt or someone explained it. He could feel their stares accusing them of something heinous. He was sure Felice could too, but his instinct was to wrap his wing round her. She was scared. We'll need to wait. Until it's explained. They won't listen to us. Not right now. Hopefully Colt would do this as soon as he could. He could see the fear in her eyes. The same fear she saw in his when she attacked Selene. It'll be OK. Trust me. He gave a loud yawn. He headed for his room. He was absolutely exhausted, and tomorrow would be worse.
He felt someone nuzzle him awake. He knew who it was. Morning Felice. He nuzzled her. She was tense. Stressed. There was no buffer between the clan's thoughts now, and they were hideous thoughts all aimed at he and her. This was taking a toll on her. He moved his wing over her head, to try and block out the links as best he could. He saw Colt leave his room. Hopefully he could pick up on these links. And deal with it soon; he doubt he could take this for too much longer himself; each one prodded, poked and stabbed into his mind, trying to get an answer from him and her.
He heard a call. An uncommon call, and the clan seemed to move towards it. Felice, I think something's happening. We need to move. He nuzzled her cheek, and got up. When he arrived, the whole clan was there. And Colt on a podium. Grinch realised what this was; a meeting. He made sure to stay at the back. Out of sight, out of mind. Colt begun shortly after he entered, and he begun to explain what happened with that intruder who had tried to attack him. He noticed that he blamed the intruder for his weakened paw by glancing at it as he talked, rather than his daughter. So that was how he'd protect Felice. That would rile the clan up no end to hear that he'd attacked him.
Then he moved on. Onto him and Felice. He gulped a little, as now everyone was looking at him. He felt the same horrid thoughts aimed at him he had heard earlier. As Colt explained his past, their questioning began to soften, little by little. Some looked away, but some still looked at him, with a curious look rather than a menacing one. He felt himself back up a little, until Colt got their attention back. He let out a sigh of relief. Hopefully they'd lay off them now. He also heard him mention Whip. He was getting better. It didn't feel right without him being there as well.
Hopefully soon there would be normality back in the clan again. Something that had gone missing these last few weeks.
-----
She hadn't heard him. She was still backed up against the wall, even though the intruder was in the prison now. They’re.. They’re after me... She looked petrified, an it really broke his heart. He had to try anything. His paw was definitely looking better than it had done this morning. He gritted his teeth, and tried to move it, barely. A sharp, strong pain travelled from his paw up through his leg. He winced at it. No, not yet. Luna, you're going to be OK. We can protect you. You know that. He hoped that she'd move closer to him, so he could try to comfort her.
Morning came, and the first thing he heard were the clan. Talking about Felice and Grinch. Spitefully. He could see a few in the background looking toward their rooms, and he felt pity for them. They didn't know. If he could he would tell them. He looked at his paw again. It looked much better. He saw new herbs on it, so they'd probably been replaced during the night. He moved his paw, just a little. The same pain flew up his leg, but... it wasn't as bad. It was getting there. He wanted to stand. To be by Luna. To help Grinch and Felice, but he couldn't. He felt... helpless, actually. He couldn't do anything right now.
He heard dad's roar. The clan seemed to all move towards his direction, but for what he didn't know. After about 10 minutes, the clan started to re-appear. Those horrible links about Felice and Grinch were almost gone. Hopefully, that had been sorted. He hadn't seen anyone yet, and felt lonely.

Luna had cuddled with Whip for a while as he hushed her, insisting everything would be okay, that they’d protect her. She wrapped a wing around him, falling into a restless sleep. She awoke later that night and heard talk of rumors, so she went to her cavern to rid herself of them. That morning she came back, to see the clan moving outside, and looked towards Whips cavern. Hurriedly, she strode to his cavern and entered, nuzzling against him. Sorry.. She said softly.. I.. I just got scared. Letting her wing fall around him, she nuzzled into his neck. Here, she found something.. comfort..
---
Selene watched as her mate got up and told her he would hold it in fifteen minutes. Yawning and stretching, she came out to stand next to him as he gave his speech. She had a small smile on her maw as the rumors finally seemed to have lifted.. As Colt came to her and asked if he’d missed anything, she shook her head and nuzzled him. No, I think you nailed it. With that, she slowly made her way back tot her cavern, but couldn’t help hasten her step as her eyes went to the prison.
---
Felice was scared, and she could tell Grinch was too. As she lay in the cavern that night, she feared the worst, but when she awoke Grinch was telling her that something was going on, and she got up quickly, walking out of the cavern to see. What she saw was her father, standing tall with mother nearby, and giving a speech. He briefly mentioned the captured prisoner and the heightened security, and to her relief he didn’t seem to put blame on her for the injury. As he came to her and Grinch, she looked away, as the stares all seemed to come their way.. But their links suddenly changed from rumors to curiosity, and it made her look up. Afterwards she nuzzled Grinch. It seemed like at last everything might work itself out, but there was one thing she wasn’t counting on; the prisoner.

The links that had accused them, had tormented them finally relented at long last. He nuzzled Felice's maw, and it had relaxed. He was fairly sure he could actually hear an apology from one or two of them. His stomach rumbled; he hadn't eaten anything since he got back as he was too ashamed to go eat anything last night with the clan. Hungry? He looked at Felice, before gesturing with his head towards where food was stored. There was enough food for perhaps one more day before they needed to hunt.
He could still remember how Luna had tucked into that deer. He couldn't match that, but for him he ate a good amount. He'd gone through two rabbits and a young deer, which was probably a record for him. He let out a small belch as a sign he was stuffed. He realised something; he hadn't seen Whip yet. He wandered over towards where their rooms were. He could sense that he was with Luna, so he decided against it. It would be rude to see him right now if she was there with him. He sighed and headed back towards the others.
He stopped though and sat on his haunches to take in the weather. The storm clouds that had covered the cove last night were out in the distance moving away, and in it's place was the light blue sky, with the Sun out. The ground was still damp, but hopefully some of that would dry up soon. In the distance, he could see more grey clouds just over the horizon, though they weren't as dark as night unlike the storm clouds. Probably light rain that would be here in a few hours time. Hopefully they wouldn't arrive until nightfall, as at least then he'd be in his room. With Felice, hopefully. She always made the nights that bit better. Actually, she made his life that bit better. He knew he was just looking off into the distance, though it always made it easier for him to think.
-----
Just as the thought of him being lonely crossed his mind, he could hear someone close in on his room. It was like they'd read his mind! He had a feeling he knew who it was, and he was right. Luna. Hopefully, she was feeling better than she had done last night. About that intruder. She'd quickly entered his room and nuzzled his side. Her sweet link opened with him. Sorry... I.. I just got scared. Why was she sorry? He felt her nuzzle his neck and her wing fall on him. It felt good. While she was careful of his paw as always, his body must be in much better shape as she wasn't being as careful as to where she laid her wing, unlike the night he re-awoke. She was low enough to where he could nuzzle her maw without having to lift his head too high.
That guy must have made your old life hell, but he's locked up. He can't reach you. Here, you're safe. In your new life. You know that, right? You're not a slave, you don't need to be afraid anymore. If they tried to reach you, they'd have to get past dad and mum. You've seen what they can do. He made a gummy smile. Hopefully this put her fear of him to bed. He had an idea and his eyes lit up a little. Hey, Luna. I want you to help me to walk later, if you want. Not far, but enough to know it still, you know, works. It's feeling a lot better than it did before. He nuzzled her neck. OK, that wasn't entirely true, but it went from general pain, to little pain, to pain where it only hurt if he put pressure on it over a day and a bit. Judging by that, he'd be able to do something with it soon, even if it wasn't much. Those herbs must be really something.
-----
That went better than expected. The clan accepted what he had said without fuss, which was something he had been banking on. Particularly on the bite mark on his paw. He still made sure there wasn't too much pressure on it, but it was getting there. It would probably leave a small scar there. 4 small grey marks were a reminder of the 'intruder's' attack on him. He almost chuckled. It was nothing compared to his grey whale of a scar on his right side. When everyone had left the room, he opened a very quiet link with Selene while looking at his paw. Our secret, huh? He gave her a cheeky grin, and went off toward where the stored food was kept. There wasn't much left by the time he got there, and he'd have to organise another hunt. But there was enough for them. Just. He left a good piece of deer for Selene.
Later, he'd have to see that prisoner, when he awoke. If he awoke. In some ways, it would be easier if he didn't.

Felice smiled at Grinch as he asked her if she was hungry. Her stomach rumbling in a sound almost like a roar answered him, and she giggled. Starved! She replied, and followed him to the feeding pile. She ate half of an entire deer, leaving some left for her mother, and instead filled the rest of her hunger with some rabbits. With a small bit of fuss, she regurgitated the bones and burped, blushing. But she realized Grinch had wandered off, towards the caverns. Smiling a little, she figured he must be going to see Whip. But he suddenly stopped midstep. Following him, she nuzzled against him, walking ahead of him and letting her tail brush against his chest, the tip just touching his chin, in her own flirtatious way of telling him to follow.
As she arrived at the caverns, she made her way into Grinchs. Desire was overwhelming her, as now that it was known that they were related, she wanted Grinch for her own, forever. She could no longer withhold her desires, and the thoughts that came to her mind whenever they touched. She went to the corner of the cavern, knowing they wouldn’t be seen there. She gave a soft, guttural call for him, one which a female only makes for one reason..
---
Luna smiled at Whip, but it soon faded as he mentioned the prisoner. She kept her wings around him, nuzzling against him. He spoke of how his parents could protect her, and she attempted a smile. As he went on to say how her life must have been hell, she looked at him. Frowning, she looked down, before his next words caught her attention. He wanted her to help with something.. But what..
And then he said it, he wanted her to help him walk.. She stared at him a moment, then glanced to his leg, then back to him and his hopeful gaze. She finally smiled and nodded. Of course. She said softly, and nuzzled against him, her wings wrapping slightly more tight around him. She gave a soft lick to his neck, before her head turned, and her maw was incredibly close to his. Slowly, she leaned in, and let her maw passionately meet with his.
---
Selene smiled as she went to bed, blocking out the links. Yes, our secret.. She said with a yawn, wrapping her wings around Colt. As she slowly fell asleep, thoughts of the prisoner entered her mind and kept her up.. She remembered how he had attacked her, how Colt had nearly killed him, how he had run off and nearly died.. How she felt good that he was probably dead.. She had felt.. relief.. Now that he was alive and back in their territory, she couldn’t help but feel an eerie sense unrest.

His thoughts were interrupted by Felice no less. She nuzzled his maw lovingly, and he was sure his heart stopped for a moment. She'd made a habit of that by now, and in that moment a desire he'd kept in check was overpowered and blossomed into full. A desire for her and him to be together. She walked past him with a look on her he hadn't seen before now. A sort of look a female would only give to their mate. His mouth was agape. Just a little. He was glad he was on his haunches already, else it might be a little more obvious he was both dumb and lovestruck. As she strolled past, her tail ran up his chest and closed his slightly agape mouth. She used her tail to point towards her direction. He rolled off his haunches in an almost hypnotised state, and followed behind her.
She entered his room, and he heard her make a call. A quiet, yet distinct call made to a mate. He followed her in and saw her in the corner. He moved calmly toward her and pressed his maw into hers, passionately. Wrapping her in his wings, he felt the urge to be with her grow stronger as he nuzzled her. They lovingly embraced. Eventually, he opened a quiet link with her. I love you Felice, I really do. He gently rolled over so they were side by side and he gently pressed his maw into hers once more. He didn't want this moment to end. Ever. This was perfect. Something he'd always cherish.
-----
He knew she'd probably agree, but he wanted to hear her say it. So he knew for sure. Her wings tightened around him a little as she quietly agreed. Slowly, her maw pressed into his, and he pressed his maw into hers. This is what love was like. This was even better than the mountain. He didn't know what to say next. So he didn't, and instead nuzzled her neck. He was happy being with her. Her company alone made a difference to his life no-one else made. It made him feel he mattered. That he had someone he could look forward to being with.
He smiled at Luna. Her body had the scars of an old life. This however, was Luna of a new life. A happy life. A free life. A life he hoped to be part of. He was fairly sure he could hear someone nearby. Hey, listen. Someone's probably gonna come in.
-----
Selene was visibly tired still, even though the day was young. These last few days and weeks had taken a toll on everyone, and it took time for some to recover their strength to what they had before. Selene had to go through nearly losing Whip, suffer the embarrassment of Grinch and Felice before he could iron it out and now that same spy. He felt in a similar state to her, so he followed her to their room. He curled up next to her the way they always did, and he felt her wrap her wings around him. This was nice and he fell asleep very shortly after Selene.
For some reason, he couldn't quite nod off, but he was aware of Selene, tossing and turning. Like she was having a bad dream. He couldn't watch her suffer through that nightmare, and gently nuzzled her neck. Hey, it's OK. He can't reach you. He nuzzled her again. The Sun was up in the middle of the sky. I'll go check our 'guest' shortly. I don't think either of us will sleep now or later until we get answers. If he's awake. He rolled onto his paws, stretched and walked out the entrance. His stomach rumbled. He needed something to eat. He knew that the food stock was running low, so tomorrow he and Selene would need to organise another hunt. Instead, he took flight and headed toward the nearest stream to get a fish. As he flew, realised he still hadn't trained Luna to hunt properly either. He'd make sure to do that before seeing the 'guest'. She was more important than him.

Her loving gaze at Grinch was sparked with whole new emotions, as she seemed to give out an almost intoxicating air around her, something dragons could do when this part of their life came. It was almost like her scent had become a sweet perfume, and her senses were heightened as he seemed to be the only one she could see. Her slow, steady steps led her into his cavern, where she lay, and as he came in and wrapped himself around her, she embraced him tightly, wasting no time to press her maw into his.. This time her embrace held much more passion, and much of the desire she had held back for all this time. She heard his confession of love, and whispered hoarsely, I love you too... Forever and always… She would never forget this moment, as their bodies tangled together, forever strengthening their bond.
After it was all said and done, she lay next to him, sweating visibly.. Her breathing was heavy, her pupils still slits from the hypnotic state she had been in.. When at last her pupils dilated, and she nuzzled against him, she wrapped her wings around him… She nuzzled into his chest, her breathing becoming steady as her body trembled with the raw emotions still running through her veins. She gave a soft purr, and licked his maw. That was.. She breathed, her jaw agape as she lay with her head on his chest, a smile on her maw. gazing at him.. Amazing.. She breathed, her eyes meeting his. Her tones softened with love and affection. You’re amazing.. She said softly.
--
Luna felt like she could rule the skies as her maw pressed against his, her wings wrapping around him. A soft sound of pleasure, a sweet rumble, escaped her and she blushed, breaking the kiss as he said someone was going to come in.… She looked up and hastened to be next to him rather then in his embrace, realizing it was his father.. She could sense he was nearby, and looked around for him. Sir… what.. what do you need? She asked, a sudden fear as to if he had heard any news from the prisoner awakening within her.
Yet she caught a different thing from his link, a softness, not any anger or the like. It sent some relief flooding through her as she tilted her head. Did you want time with Whip.. I can go so you two can.. Her words faded in her link, as she realized there was something else in his link. Her first hunt.. Was he.. Was this about her hunting skills? Why was their hunting in his link.. Hunting.. about her? A confused look was on her expression as she peered, trying to see him, awaiting an answer.
---
Selene tossed and turned and awoke to Colts hushed tones soothing her. Her body was sweating, and visibly shaking just like it had been that night. Her eyes opened, mere slits, but when she saw Colt they returned to pupils as she looked up, sighing. Another nightmare.. She whispered quietly.. As he said he would go question the prisoner she looked at him. Colt.. Just.. Just be careful…
He wandered off, and she caught his link that he was planning to teach Luna to hunt.. She lay her head back on her paws, trying to rest, trying to get her thoughts in order in an attempt to have a peaceful rest.

Love felt incredible. It really, really did. He felt Felice nuzzle his neck. She was warm, as were her wings that wrapped round him. Her head pressed into his chest, and he could tell she was still breathing deeply. He was as well. As she licked his maw, she made a satisfied purr. He opened his eyes to see her wide golden looking into his. That was... amazing. You’re amazing... He couldn't think of a response to this, so instead he smiled and wordlessly pressed his maw tenderly into hers. Love. An marvellous thing. Life was so much better with Felice.
They were still in the shadows. He must have been lying with Felice there for at least a good hour or two, just curled up within each others embrace. He didn't mind though. He doubt she did either. The Sun was high in the sky, though the rays didn't seem to enter his room. He nuzzled Felice. He couldn't imagine life without her being with him.
-----
That was a good fish. He still had it. There was an art to hunting fish, and he was probably a master at it. He landed back in the cove and walked toward Whip's room. He made sure that they could sense him as he closed in on his room. Colt waited a moment, in case he was interrupting anything before he entered. He saw Luna next to Whip. Sir… what.. what do you need? She looked puzzled by him being there, and her link on edge. Did you want time with Whip.. I can go so you two can.. Colt opened a link with Luna. We'll be starting another hunt tomorrow, as we're running low. I know Whip helped you, but I'd been meaning to train you myself. Unfortunately, these last few weeks have been... eventful, as you know. He looked at Whip's paw. It looked like it was nearly good to walk on again, albeit lightly. Your paw looks much better Whip. Hopefully you'll be up and about soon. He smiled at them both, before indicating with his head for Luna to follow.
He took off, and circled around low and slow so Luna could follow him. She needed to learn to calm down, and keep a clear head. Whip had done a good job in rehearsing her on the technique, if he remembered correctly. He'd make sure to tell him that.
-----
He felt Luna's wing quickly re-furl off of him, and her looking ahead toward the door, rather than him. Dad came in just as she did. He saw Luna's face. She looked scared as her eyes were wide open. Why? Luna seemed to settle down as his dad talked about hunting. He said that he wanted to help her be a better hunter and about not being able to until now. He saw his gaze switch to his paw and remarked it looked a lot better. Well, at least he got an independent account of what he thought. His dad nodded his head and took off, waiting for Luna. Before she moved, he quickly lifted his head and nuzzled her maw.
Afterwards, he decided he may as well get some rest and kill time so Luna would return. And hopefully, he'd be able to walk again, later.

The love she felt for Grinch in that moment far surpassed any other emotion she had ever felt, and as she lay there she knew he had a special place in her heart now.. forever… Something told her that she held a place in his heart, no longer as a sister. No, now they were a couple, but they had to make it official. Of course, they were to young to be mates but she wanted something to solidify that they were together, and so she nuzzled him gently, whispering.. Grinch, I love you... I want us to be a.. a couple.. One day maybe more. Much more.. She whispered, looking at him as her paw wrapped around him, flexing against the muscles of his neck. The feel of his strong figure beneath her claws still sent shivers down her spine. Finally, after laying with him for what seemed like forever, she realized that Whip was alone.
Getting up, she looked towards his cavern. Did you want to see Whip? She asked softly. Nodding her head towards his cavern, she said softly, I think he’s finally alone. She walked towards the entrance of the cavern, and started towards Whips. She peered in, whipping her tail against the wall to get his attention. She looked back for Grinch. Maybe now was a good time to tell Whip the truth about them. He’d more then likely accept it, if not now then with time.. After all, he was her brother, and had known them both their entire lives. He couldn’t possibly stay angry for long.. could he?
---
Luna looked at her leader as he asked her to hunt, and a small smile came to her maw. As he walked off, Whip nuzzled her, and she gently returned the favor, licking his maw tenderly before taking off after Colt. Once she was out of the cavern, she found him and ran towards him. So.. what do we do first? She asked, already taking a prowling position as she saw a rabbit. Memories of the first hunt came back to her as she growled quietly to herself, before lunging.. And…
I.. I missed.. She said quietly, sighing. She watched the rabbit scramble off into the brush, and looked back to her leader. What am I doing wrong? She asked, a tinge of despair in her tones. She needed to know what she was doing wrong and how she could do this better. He was the first one to ever try and help her hunt, so she wasn’t about to throw this lesson out the window, and thus turned, meeting his eye to show she was paying attention.

He saw Luna lunge for the rabbit, missing by such a small margin. Whip had done a good job, though there were a few details she needed to pick up on that Whip couldn't have taught. They weren't big, but they made all the difference. Understandably, she looked disheartened, and turned towards him, asking what she was doing wrong. He knew she was paying full attention by her body language. Whip has taught you a good technique. I can't fault you on that. There are a few small... details though, that you need to work on. They aren't big, and it's more of a mentality and practise thing. He paused for a brief moment, before continuing. When you were low down and ready to strike, I noticed you weren't 100% sure you were going to get it. You let doubt creep in your mind, probably because you haven't been able to catch anything thus far. To be a good hunter, you need to believe in yourself, and leave no doubt in your mind that you'll kill your prey. One more thing is that you need to plan your strike beforehand. Because you saw that rabbit and immediately went for it, you were still trying to think how to hold it down, and so the rabbit was able to get away. You didn't give yourself time to think about how to best approach it. A rabbit is a very tricky thing to hold onto, and it's a lot harder to get hold of than you may first realise. Try going for a larger target to begin with, like a boar. Speaking of which...
Luna, do you see that boar, over to your left? Colt lowered his body close to the ground. I want you to take it down. To avoid the tusks, strike the back of it. It will try to spin round and gouge you, so make sure you keep a strong grasp on it before you strike it down. I'd rather not need to deal with a hurt Luna. Believe you will get it, and plan your strike beforehand. Your technique for the rabbit was excellent. Replicate it. It will become easier in time, but for now take your time. They aren't too aware of their surroundings. If it takes all day to get it right, that's fine. That's what I'm here for. Colt, with his lowered body watched on, and waited for Luna to follow through with her strike. If she listened to him, she will get that boar. And hopefully get some needed confidence. He hoped in a way that she would need more time to get it right; it meant he had an excuse not to deal with the intruder.
-----
Grinch watched as Colt had entered Whip's cavern, and left just as quickly with Luna in tow. Felice's soft link took his mind off that though, with something that got his attention. That she wanted he and her to be a couple. And in the future something much more... Her paw had wrapped round him, and in response he pressed his maw into hers. Perhaps Felice had seen Colt and Luna leave Whip, as she thought that now would be a good time to see Whip, and announce their plan to be a couple to him. She rose to her paws, and began to walk towards Whip's room. Would Whip understand them being a couple though? In a way, it was good he was there when he found out he wasn't related to his family. He followed suit, though as the Sun was bright and he'd been in the shadows of his room his eyes took a moment to readjust.
He was just behind Felice when her tail knocked against the side, to let Whip know someone was going to see him. He walked into his room, and waited for Felice. Hey Whip. You feeling OK? Felice and I have some news.

Luna had lunged too soon for that rabbit, and realized a moment too late she hadn’t thoroughly planned her attack. As she listened to Colt, he mentioned that he had noticed she hadn’t been quite that certain she would catch that rabbit, and it made him look up at him… jaw agape.. He had noticed that just by watching her? Quickly shutting her jowels, as he then told her she needed to believe with her whole heart she would capture and kill the prey, she nodded, taking a deep breathe. Then he told her that she would need to plan. And motioned to a new prey, a boar.. This made her draw a quick inhale, for her eyes quickly were drawn to the beasts sharp tusks. Yet his advice rang in her ears, to attack from behind and believe in herself. Listening to his final words of wisdom, she stalked forward..
One paw in front of the other, crouching low as she moved behind it.. She paused, scarcely breathing as she planned out the attack in her mind.. Pounce, dig her claws in, and hold.. Then drag the beast down and give it a final kiss of death. Yes, that was it; that’s what she had to do.. Focusing, she stepped forward, yet just as she did her paw hit a rock and sent it flying into the clearing… Which made the boar look up and turn towards her, pawing the ground.. She took the moment to spread her wings, flying to a tree. Alright, alright.. So I let myself known. Just have to wait till he thinks I am gone… Scarcely breathing, she readied a blast, aiming it the opposite direction, which scared off some birds, and before she let her fire out she swallowed it back into her throat. The boar had bought it, he was looking into the distance where the birds had flown off, his back facing her now. Three, two, one..
Pounce! She lunged down, her claws digging into the boars back as she hung on, the boar fighting to hit her with his tusks. Yet she dragged him down with her weight, sinking her teeth into his front leg nearest to her as she did so. The boar swung his head to try and hit her, and she released her grip on his leg just in time, letting her jaws sink down into his hind as he faltered onto his back, screaming his terror. Finally, she gave one final bite to his neck, as his breathing slowly faltered, and he finally lay still. She got off him, a smile on her maw, before she looked at his dead figure.. A moment of horror ran through her.. She looked to Colt, torn between the pride of her kill and the sorrow she felt for taking his life. Staring down into his lifeless eyes for a long moment, she finally looked to Colt.. Before she finally managed the question.. Is.. is it always like this..
---
Felice nuzzled against Grinch, and as she asked that they be a couple he responded with a kiss, and she purred her delight, holding him tightly before wandering off to her brothers cavern. She heard Grinch follow, and paused at the doorway as she saw Whip. She smiled at him, then looked over as Grinch came beside her and said that they had some news for him. She walked in, sitting down, smiling over at Grinch. She looked to Whip, then looked down a moment. Well, you know how me and Grinch aren’t really related.. She said quietly, before smiling at Grinch. She looked over at him. She finally continued. For a long time, before we knew we weren’t related by blood, we have been fighting.. She paused, looking down and swallowed. This was it, he was going to know the truth. There was no going back now. She finally found her voice. … fighting well, you know.. feelings.. for each other.
She found herself gazing fondly at Grinch, before snapping her attention back to her brother. I know this’ll be hard, and may come as a shock, but.. It’s going to come out sometime.. She breathed in slowly, nuzzling Grinch. We finally let ourselves be happy... and.. we are happy with each other.. You’re the first to know that.. that Grinch and I are a couple.. She finally looked to Whip. Her smile faded, as she wondered how he would take this..

He watched as Luna prepared herself to strike. She seemed to have taken what he said her heart, as he saw that confidence and calmness that a hunter needed. She made an error though which got the boar's attention, and she backed off, flying out of sight of the boar. Damn. She used a fire bolt to create a distraction though, which was very good thinking and got the boar to face away toward the scared birds screaming ahead of him. Now this was it. Come on, take that opportunity while it's there... she latched on with a vice like grip, and dodged the sharp tasks of the boar before delivering that final blow. An excellent kill from a shaky start.
He could see Luna's eyes change from excitement to anguish as the realisation that she had taken a life sank in. He rose up, and waited for her to say something before he moved towards her. When she did, it was a question he never really thought about: Was it always so hard to take a life? He wrapped his wing around her as a father would to their daughter. His memory of his first kill was similar to Luna's. He opened a gentle link, to answer her question. It may sound evil, but the more life you take, the easier it becomes. We hunt to survive. To live. That's the way we must treat it. That boar will be eaten before the end of tonight; we don't take life without a reason. In this case, it is to eat. He knew that his first kill was the one that you would remember, and would be the template off which you'd treat hunting. His parents taught him this lesson and he taught his children this. Now, he had taught her this. She had the making of a good hunter. She just needed someone to show her and give her that bit of time. I'm proud of the fact you aren't taking your kill lightly. You also took it down as a good hunter should; fast and lethal. I'm confident you'll do well tomorrow. If you wish, you can head back to the cove, or you can stay out here and hunt. Perhaps that elusive rabbit? He gave her a half smile, that dared her to say yes. If she could get that rabbit, he'd done his job. And she'd have the confidence she needed in her life to be more than a slave.
-----
A knock on his door awoke him. He doubt it would be dad and Luna, so it was either mum, Grinch or Felice. He opened his eyes, and saw Grinch there, and Felice just behind him. It was good to see them. They'd probably been waiting until Luna was away from him. He heard Grinch ask him how he felt, but before he could respond he also followed up saying he had some news. News? Felice stepped in, her link entering his mind. For a long time, before we knew we weren’t related by blood, we have been fighting.. fighting well, you know.. feelings.. for each other. He recalled how the clan was disgusted by their affection for each other, until this morning. I know this’ll be hard, and may come as a shock, but.. It’s going to come out sometime.. We finally let ourselves be happy... and.. we are happy with each other.. He still struggled to think of Grinch as someone not related, as they'd grown up with each other, as part of a family. It felt... weird. It made sense, but it still felt weird. If he hadn't been there when Felice and Selene had that fight, this would be a lot harder to take in and understand. He thought about saying saying this, but Felice spoke before he could.
You’re the first to know that.. that Grinch and I are a couple.. Felice's face fell, waiting for his reaction hoping it would be one of happiness. He smiled at them. That's great news! I'll be honest though. It does feel... weird, as I can't think of Grinch as anything else than a brother... but I suppose that's something I'll need to get used to. There was an awkward silence as he finished saying this. He hoped that was taken positively. If you're telling me news, I've got some news as well. Luna'll be helping me walk later, in the evening. Don't tell anyone else though. I want to see the clan's reaction.
-----
Grinch waited as Felice explained their plan to him. He was as anxious as she was that he'd take it well. Time just seemed to drag on as she finished, for Whip to take it in. He smiled. Thank the spirits for that. He heard him say it was great news... but there was a hesitation to it. He said that he couldn't think of him as anything else than a brother. Grinch was actually quite humbled at this, even if it did somewhat hurt that he didn't feel comfortable with it; even though he knew his past, he still cared for him the same way as before. It was a shame though he still had reservations. ...but I suppose that's something I'll need to get used to. He was relieved to hear him say this. Honestly, this was a batter reaction than he thought it would be.
Whip followed on, and said he... wanted to walk? With Luna's help? He knew he had a slightly perplexed look on him as he heard this. His paw looked a lot better that when he had seen it before; when he was lifted back it was mangled. Now, it looked like it was nearly there. He returned the smile Whip gave them, as he said to keep it a secret.

As she had killed that boar, the initial excitement that roared within her soon came to a shattering end, as the realization that she had killed this boar hit her.. She had taken its life, and as she thought about it more and more its dead eyes looked straight into her own... Those cold and lifeless eyes, forever frozen with its final moments of terror, which stared up at her as an eerie reminder of what she must do now to eat, to survive… And just as she spoke to Colt he explained that they never killed without a reason, and this reason was to eat. He mentioned it would get easier with time, and she shook her head, jaw agape. I can’t imagine so.. But at his dare of catching the rabbit for her dinner, she perked up.
Stalking off, she found a rabbit nearby, and set herself into a silent stalking mode.. In her mind she prepared to grab it with her mouth, as her claws wound be too slippery, and give one quick death blow before it even knew she was there.. Then.. She lunged forward, and sunk her teeth into.. flesh… Pulling up, she had the limp figure of the rabbit in her jaws, and set it next to the boar. This time it felt a little easier, and she let herself feel a little prouder, as she looked to Colt with a smile. Whips gonna be so proud of me!
---
Felice felt herself on edge as she spoke of he relationship with Grinch, but just as she feared his reaction he smiled back at her, and although he admitted it was a bit weird he seemed to have taken it well. Then he mentioned he would be going out on his injured leg later. A smile came to her maw, forming into a small smirk as he mentioned Luna and that it was a secret. You like her, don’t you? She asked softly.
She nuzzled Grinch, before sitting next to her brother. She has a good heart, and the right stuff to make a good mate one day. She said softly, then teased softly. Before you know it we’ll all have cubs! She giggled at the thought, and thoughts of the previous night came to her. More nights like that and they would have cubs! She looked to Grinch, smiling and nuzzling against him. She saw Luna making her way to the cavern. Speaking of which, here comes Luna now.. See ya! She nudged Grinch, and headed to Grinchs cavern, laying down. That went.. better then I expected.. She said, still giggling a little.
