I wish the other kids would get some focus beyond being joke suppliers. Like, if we could get an episode centered on each one, as opposed to all the episodes being centered around Hiccup or Toothless, that would be fantastic. I did enjoy this episode. The adult Typhoomerang was legitimately scary, and very impressively animated. Torch was annoying in a lot of ways, but I get that he was sort of supposed to be annoying because this was more of a Toothless-POV episode. I'm guessing that will come with time. I seem to remember a blurp about the Twins getting some focus in an episode? But then my memory... blarg. I mean, even this one. I really appreciated that it was more dragon-centric than human, in this case. Hell, Hiccup was kind of an epic dick. It was kind of fun. Very book-rich, too, actually. All kinds of booky things. I enjoyed it. Though yeah, there was something weak about it. I can't put my finger on it. It was a pretty action-centric episode, and while in previous episodes I was cracking up at the kids and stuff, in this one most of the dumb-spectrum jokes kinda fell flat (especially since there weren't a TON of witty-spectrum ones to balance them out, as in previous episodes). EFFING PANPIPES THOUGH Also, not that I care much, but I'm kind of surprised that the fandom isn't flipping out about Hiccup's line about his first girlfriend being a dragon. XD Seems like it establishes a few things here. maybe I'm speaking too soon XD

This episode was great.
Liked everything about it.
My fav so far. Because Unlike Animal house, it brings something new to the franchise. A: a new dragon. B: It's the first time that Hiccup and Toothless turn against eachosers.
About Hiccup apologies, I have the feeling that they didn't wanted to throw too much of intense Toothless/hiccup scenes too soon. Because I think that their friendship will be tested a lot of more and in a lot of ruder way in the following episode. And we all know he probably appologised more latter. I interest of time, I understand they cut it.

I know we're going to have an episode that kind of develops more on Snotlout later on. IDK about the others though.
Downloading this episode from iTunes now...
EDIT: Damn, it's not up yet, never mind.

Berk's Grapevine episode Review!I agree with skrill, I like having a conflict between Hiccup and Toothless. Neither of them are perfect. And Torch was acting like a little brat to Hiccup and unfortunately Hiccup just couldn't see it. You live you learn. Hiccup will make bigger mistakes then this in the series, I'll bet. Plus Hiccup and Toothless are too good of friends to really let a misunderstanding keep them fighting for too long. At the end there was barely a "ohmigoshforgiveme" moment. Cause it was just like like "I know bro, I've still got yo back". ;D haha, anyways. Conflict resolution for the "mama" conflict was still pretty weak for me >__> And hopefully a good quality download comes up soon so I can start making the other pages for the grapevine DX

^After I've thought about it, I agree with Torch being kind of a brat, but maybe that's because he's young and doesn't know better. Not sure I like the personality, but I LOVE the design. And now the lack of an apology scene makes more sense.

I know we're going to have an episode that kind of develops more on Snotlout later on. Really? That's awesome! Snotlout is my very favorite, I could sit around and analyze his character and motivations literally all day. And all my ideas are probably wrong, so having an episode on him will be great.

I think what it is is he, Hiccup and Toothless get stuck on an island, and after a while something happens to Hiccup so it's just Toothless and Snotlout and they have to kinda get to know each other.

True! They mentioned so at comic con I'm especially looking forward to Snotlout's character development just because we've had so little. But I've gotta admit, his whole "power struggle" conversation in this episode was really funny. And Hiccup just shrugs it off like a cool guy XD Also, whoever made this topic needs to change the title since this is episode 104 and not 103

Finally watched it tonight thanks to the CN official upload. (iTunes, why you no have it up yet? The CN copy has really sucky res!) I definitely liked this episode, in large part because they really played up Toothless in this one--I had been getting kind of worried that he might get sidelined, but thankfully no. Blackrose, I agree Hiccup was still in character. If you watch closely, Torch is usually pretty careful to only bother Toothless when Hiccup isn't looking or isn't around, so of course with the limited perspective he'd want to side with the smaller, more "helpless" seeming dragon. And I find it hilarious how Hiccup's earlier bias bites him in the rear when Torch refuses to go back to his mother for a bit. (My mom pointed out: "Hiccup's his new mommy." Oh dear, poor Hiccup. XD ) There were a couple lines that stood out as being particularly memorable for me. I almost wish they'd found some way to bring back the "flaming squirrel" nickname near the end because it cracked me up so much. Not much of a callback, maybe just "That is a really big squirrel." Almost forgot, the line about Hiccup's girlfriend being a dragon cracked me up. I hope Astrid doesn't hear about that, because I'm not sure how she'd take to being called a dragon. Though I guess she probably is the most dragon-like human we've seen so far. (Actually, I guess this kind of confirms that at this point in the show they're still not *quite* thinking of each other as boyfriend and girlfriend.) Downsides would be that the pacing was a little rushed, but that perception may be colored by the fact that I've been watching so much Doctor Who lately, where each episode takes up a time slot 2x that of Berk. And, maybe I'm alone in this, but I actually don't care much for Torch's design. On his mother it worked fine, but the pale, almost bony head on a baby everyone's crooning over just doesn't quite mesh for me. That, and the Typhoomerangs look a *lot* like Nightmares with their proportions and colors tweaked. It wasn't quite so noticeable on the mother again, but with the babies' larger heads the Nightmare parallels are really strong.

Okay, watched it yesterday, but it was late! So here is my verdict: It was quite good. The most annoying aspect of the series is treating the audience like we're all five years old. Every time Hiccup narrates, I always have the 'You don't say' meme in my head. I wish they wouldn't do this. I am also thankful that Toothless hasn't been sidelined, and I do like the way Toothless and Torch acted around each other. How Toothless constantly feels HIS Hiccup is being taken away from him. I know I'd probably do the same Aside from that, there were a few more positives. Most of them came from jokes though, 'We can get the band back together!' But again to the problems... the friendship reunion was just too short. I know Toothless is likely to forgive Hiccup a lot easier than others would, but it just had no emotional weight behind it. To be honest, it went by so fast I didn't really register it. And the same again for Torch and his mother's reunion. It just sucked. Poofiemus: I believe Hiccup was actually referring to Toothless as his girlfriend, not Astrid (I believe it was after Gobber said Toothless was jealous).

Poofiemus: You made me realize that T11 was right and Torch was a huge brat.
Conay: Well, Toothless wasn't ACTUALLY jealous though, he was trying to warn them (that and he was started to get mad because of how much of a brat Torch was being). And I think you're right about the dragon girlfriend joke; he was referring to Toothless. Also, if you notice right after, Gobber says "That's another thing we have in common!" I could have misunderstood that, but it sounded like something was up to me.

Ugh I hope there will be a twin-centric episode! Theyre two of my favorite characters!
