I went to this last Saturday at United Center in Chicago, and I wrote a pretty in-depth spiel
here:
I haven't seen much coverage of the VIP packages yet. I had a Meet the Dragons ticket, so I tried to give a good idea of what to expect.
Here's a quick sum-up in case my rambling is TL;DR:
VIP gets great parking and comes 2 1/2 hours early:
You get a goodie bag. It might vary from venue to venue, but mine included:
-1 red VIP tote bag with Arena Spectacular logo (printed in white)
-1 3D holographic poster with the show’s Deadly Nadder on them (this is GORGEOUS)
-1 Fiber Optic… Night Fury Wand dealy??? (they forgot to put one in one of our bags, so Mom chased them down about it, lol)
-1 of the infamous, glorious, TOOTHLESS MUG.
And of course we all got laminates:
We got in line for photos, but it was taking too long, so they went to take us to see Hiccup and Astrid in a room like this:
Sorry about these crappy photos. XD It was actually very intimate, in a very small room with maybe six rows of chairs.
BRAAIIIINS RILEY WILL EAT YOUR BRAIIIINS
They "TAUGHT US ABOUT DRAGONS!!" and then we got to take quick photos with them and high-five Hiccup. XD
Afterward they took us to take the green screen photos. They actually bring you costume pieces (they seem to have a good eye for it, funnily enough), and then they snap your picture as a Viking and paste it over a cheesy little Berk background. It's very very dorky, but the people there were INCREDIBLY SWEET.
(actually, the VIP staff for the entire event is just spot on. Very friendly, very professional, and willing to joke and chat about stuff. They make things go easily and smoothly.)
Then of course we saw the show. You can read the full spiel for my impressions.
After the show, they ushered us together and led us all the way down and back to the backstage area.
It was pretty cool, since we actually caught Hiccup, Astrid, Gobber, Fishlegs and a few others out of costume, which I wasn't expecting at all. (not a meet-and-greet event; they were just leaving to go to their hotel. They all looked exhausted, lol)
They gave us a surprisingly in-depth tech talk about how the backstage works and how they manage to bring the show place to place, and then we got to take pictures with the dragons! (all of the large ones!)
Our lighting wasn't as good as I've seen from other venues, but hey.
I'd highly recommend Meet the Dragons. I wasn't expecting them to go nearly as in-depth- it was theatre kid porn! XD
