How to Train Your Dragon Sequel

Oh, don't worry, I've calmed down. I was growing slightly restless at the lack of much new sequel-related info recently, which is why I've been anticipating this trailer so much.

I'm hoping this is just the thing to get the greater fandom going again. There's not a whole lot going on on the different sites I've visited recently, other than here and Berk's Grapevine. Interest will certainly grow again as time goes on and the release gets closer.

Oh, and somehow I keep forgetting that Defenders of Berk is coming out in September, so there's something to look forward to. I'm not going to have to live only off of official (and "leaked") sequel news for the next year after all!

My question is: Why has all of your sources said the Trailer would come out July 2nd or 3rd, and it's July 7th and there is 0 new trailers out!? D:

I think those dates are when the trailer was classified/approved. Kinda fits considering Turbo is almost exactly two weeks away from those dates...ERMAGERD

TheCube is right, those are just the dates when the trailers have been rated for release; then aren't the release dates. But we WILL be seeing the trailer... very soon...

I just read this article that explains some things about the HTTYD leaked pics. The interview explained:

-Hiccup's "Fire Sword" Is actually more known as a Dragon Blade that Hiccup invented to trick Dragons into thinking he was one of them, having fire and all, and it's put to use when calming down startled Dragons and whatnot.

-Hiccup's new prosthetic is retractable, and has a lot of new features that will be explored in HTTYD 2

-Hiccup's suit is confirmed to have a "flying squirrel" function that allows Hiccup to leap off Dragon back and sail the skies beside Toothless. Though he can't actually fly, it's gliding is advanced.

-Hiccup now has a mask that has dragon-like spikes at the top. I'm interested to see what this mask looks like.

Sounds like this one got mixed with the... Uh, the "mysterious dragon rider." I'm curious where you got this specific info.

I think his foot is supposed to be much more advanced than what it used to be, and can be retracted.

On the other hand, we still don't have a full explanation on how Toothless won't plummet into the ocean.... We'll see when the teaser comes out.

No time to post impressions now as I'm in a hurry, but I will later on. But I will say that I'm very impressed.

New details about the movie were released from the Comic Con panel today.

The following is from the CinemaBlend.com live blog of the event. Only info relevant to HTTYD 2 is pasted here. There was info from Turbo and Mr. Peabody and Sherman released during the event too. You can read the whole blog on their website, at the link down below.

Note that this DOES contain info that some people may consider to be spoilers. Read at your own discretion.

11: 50 AM: Can you guess who got the biggest round of applause? How To Train Your Dragon 2 director Dean DeBlois, obviously.

12: 09 PM: Director Dean DeBlois told the studio he would only make a sequel to How To Train Your Dragon if he could do three total movies. That would allow him to tell a story he actually cared about.

12: 11 PM: The biggest inspiration for Dean when he sat down to make this film? Empire Strikes Back. Interpret that however you'd like.

12: 12 PM: How To Train Your Dragon 2 begins 5 years in the future. Hiccup is trying to figure out who he's going to be as a person, and while his issues were largely solved after the first movie, new ones have been created since.

12: 15 PM: DeBlois is showing a clip from How To Train Your Dragon 2. Hiccup has definitely aged, but he's still fundamentally the same person. He's flying alongside Toothless in the footage, looking to map the surrounding area. Not surprisingly, some **** breaks, a crash happens and the two have a pretty hilarious argument over fault. It's just as well put together as what we saw the first time around.

12: 26 PM: Dean DeBlois was very poor growing up. He used to sit in the backyard with one or two action figures making up stories in his head, and he's so happy he was able to turn that into a career.

12: 27 PM: Bonus clip from HTTYD2!

12: 28 PM: Holy Valhalla! This movie might actually be an Empire Strikes Back level of dark. Hiccup was just snatched by a gigantic dragon being ridden by a terrifying masked blue rider, and Toothless was knocked into the water. It's more intense than anything we saw in the first movie and caused a loud, blown away mudder here in 6A. The guy sitting behind me even said, "What the ****?" when it was over--definitely in a good way though.

12: 34 PM: New casting for How To Train Your Dragon 2 ! 3 new significant characters.One is a ferrel recluse vigilante that's been out there rescuing dragons from traps. Her name is Volca. She's hidden away thousands of dragons and will be voiced by Cate Blanchette. The aforementioned villain from a strange land seen in the clip is named Drago Bloodfist. He's played by Djamon Honsou, and he's assembling an army of dragons. And finally, there's a self-declared world's greatest dragon trapper. He's very brazen. He'll be voiced by Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones who is here! Crowd is going nuts.

12: 39 PM: Harrington says playing this character is a lot of fun because he's so much different than John Snow. He's completely sure of himself, and he has a swagger to him.

According to kris0ten on tumblr, DWA is apparently not going to be releasing the clips shown today to the Internet. ...At least, not yet. (I guess we'll have to hope for a video of the event, or a leak.)


Also Jonsí is back and will be collaborating on the score with John Powell. One of the clips shown today is believed to have contained some of this new music.
