Oel ngati kameie. ;D
Who else likes the blue kitty peoples of Pandora?
I KNOW YOU FANS ARE OUT THERE. I CAN HEAR YOU BREATHING.
Personally, I loved it. There are very few movies that ever gave me goosebumps. HTTYD was one. Avatar is another.
How do you guys feel?

It's up there with the best movies I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. It seems...unfinished, or finished in a rush. It left me wanting more. A sequel? I don't know. I don't think there will be one. Unless there is. Only time will tell, I guess. I can't think of any plot holes that the sequel could be based on, either.

James Cameron has, in fact, a sequel planned. Actually, he meant Avatar to be a trilogy from the start.

Kaltxi frapo! Tsun oe ngahu nìNa'vi pivängkxo a fi'u oeru prrte'lu.
...Okay, that's enough geekiness for now. Avatar is definately my #1 favorite movie. I saw it in theatre four times (my parents think I'm nuts), bought two books about Pandora flora and fauna and the soundtrack. And last but not least, I've been active on the Learn Na'vi forum for months. So I guess that makes me a fan.

I've got one of the books, the Activist's Survival Guide, which is great. You learn about the stuff the movie doesn't tell you about, including some of their language. Someone needs to program a translator already! xD
Of course I bought the movie as soon as it came out, and became a part of the 'Avatar' program so I'll get a good discount when it's rereleased with the special features, including the missing scenes such as, Jake and Neytiri mating under the Tree of Whispers and I heard Neytiri's sister was supposed to be in the movie so there'll be a scene or two with her, too.

I went to see this with a guy I really liked, and can say that I only enjoyed two aspects about the experience...the animals, and the fact that I got my first kiss after the movie. ^^ The animals were gorgeous. Loved the Direhorses, most of all. And the entire deep-sea motif, like the hammerhead-rhinos and stuff. The Banshees and the Leopterynx (whatever the hell its called) were gorgeous, too. And the Viperwolves! They reminded me of my doggie. And Thanator was just plain win. The Navi, though...freaked me out. Not sure why. And the humans were just so dull, I couldn't really get interested in them and their plights. Jake was too perfect for me; of COURSE he'd be the sixth Toruk Mato! -_- And the environmental aspect of it all was too preachy to me. I thought the Jake/Neyteri thing could've been fleshed out more. I thought it would be like WALL*E + EVE, where their love saves the world. Instead, it was just a...oh hey, look, we can make them fall in love. And Stormy already knows my POV on the dragon-riding bits, lol. xD And the 3D actually made me physically sick: I left with a headache, nausea, and vertigo. Summing up, the animals were the only thing I liked about the movie.

Personally, I think James Cameron was so excited to show off these beautiful animals and plants that he created that he didn't think to slow down and flesh out the plot more.
Despite the plot being almost nonexistent and, when existent, preachy, I did find myself tearing up a couple of times because the people that played the Na'vi were such good actors, you could really feel the intensity of their sorrow.
Loved the Na'vi. They were really beautiful in my opinion. And in the book I bought there's some children Na'vi playing with finger paints, it's just so...'awww'. ♥
I can understand on a lot of levels why Jake was so perfect- the main character usually is. On the aspect of why people didn't like that the Na'vi accepted him so quickly just because he rode a Toruk, well you have to stop and remember that since their existence only five Toruk Makto have ever been around, and they're always there to save them in a great time of sorrow.

I saw this shortly after it came out with a bunch of my old buddies. The CG was amazing, I will give the movie that, but as already stated above, plot was not fleshed out enough. Jake was likeable enough, as was Grace, but the rest of the humans weren't really interesting. The first time I saw it was in 2D, second time I saw it was in 3D. 3D was pretty cool. As for the relationship between Jake and Neyteri, it needed more development. Maybe that's coming in the second movie though, who knows. Jake did seem a little too perfect at times, but I think the actor was great in portraying him, especially when it was just his voice as a Na'vi. The movie made me almost cry when Grace died and when the home tree was destroyed. Overall, I liked the movie.

That's my issue, though, that he became the Toruk Mato. It's like, oh OF COURSE Mr. Awesome Hero is going to be TORUK MATO! I dunno, that just irked me. It wasn't that they listened to him after he became it, it was that he became it. *shrug* I know it was central to the plot, and it was the only way to get him to listen to them...but it was just such an obvious answer. Also, I forgot to mention...GRACE WAS AWESOME! I was so upset when she died. I was sitting there in the theater, thinking, "No...NO DON'T KILL HER OFF!!!" And there was one scene I liked. Out of al the epic battle imagery, the beautiful scenery and the amazing CGI...my favorite bit was when Neyteri was holding human!Jake. ^^ Oh, and that make-out scene? Both me and the guy I saw it with turned bright red and looked at our laps. I kept glancing at him and trying not to laugh, as well as thinking "I'm sorry" at him...he's a little shy when it comes to scenes like that...xD

I thought Avatar was okay. I liked it a lot the first time I saw it, but then the second time...it was really boring and I lost interest in it kind of quickly xD My mom loved it though, which is surprising since she usually doesn't like these kind of movies. I also thought it was better in regular than in 3D.

I, personally, thought that the development in Neytiri and Jake's relationship was pretty good. Through all the times that they were together you could always see Jake giving Neytiri thoughtful looks or just smiles, same with Neytiri, she would always find herself grinning or laughing at something silly Jake did. They had much more development than Hiccup and Astrid, at least...
Grace, ooohhh Grace. I seriously thought she was gonna live and be happy cuz she was FINALLY a Na'vi but no, she died, and I bawled.
One thing I was disappointed then was that I wanted a scene where Neytiri got to see human Jake in his wheelchair. Like, "This is the strong Na'vi man you fell in love with, he is actually weak and can't do anything to help you in his human form, how do you feel about that?" kind of scene.
Ah, the mating scene...stirring up so much confusion among fans and nonfans who seem to think that they mate with their hairbraids... *shakes head*
But the actors did an amazing job considering they had a small camera literally pointed in their face at all times and had to pretend to be ten feet tall when interacting with actors who were designated as 'human' such as the scene with Neytiri and Jake.
By the way...I thought Jake and his avatar looked NOTHING ALIKE. Norm (who is adorable and makes me squee and fangasm every time he speaks or I see him) looked like his avatar (adorable) and Grace REALLY looked like her avatar. But Jake and his avatar? Did not see the resemblance except a tiny moment when they're first floating in the blue goo.

This is an awesome movie and I love it right to the ending. This is the movie that started the 3-D becoming a must for some movies. Including HTTYD. Being able to bond with pa'li and ikran are the exciting parts. Soaring on an ikran, wow!

I initially found this movie interesting. But then something happened which pushed me away from it. I bought this movie on DVD: Battle for TerraAbout halfway through the movie, I thought, I've seen this story before. And for the record, I'd known Battle for Terra existed a long time before Avatar, it was just hard to find the dvd to buy (it wasn't commonly available where I live). To me, it looks like Avatar just ripped the entire plot out of Battle for Terra, added some big budget special effects and presented it as a "new" movie! The release dates would also support that: Battle for Terra: 2007. Avatar: 2009. Since I don't approve of stealing someone else's idea, that's when I lost interest in Avatar.
