Dragons Ahead!
Chapter 1: Waking up, Strange Island, strange people
Blossom. The first thing I remember. A warm sunbeam stroked my face. A huge headache filled my head. Like a thousand yaks were running in my head. I opened my eyes. The sun... So bright. I looked to the left. A woman, no, a girl. Blond hair, strange clothes. She looked at me with a worried look in her eyes. I looked the other way. There was a boy. Brown hair and kind of the same clothes, and the same look. "He is awake!" the girl said. "I can see that Astrid... Hey buddy, what happened to you?" "Hiccup, why isn't he answering?" "Maybe he is just tired" "Ships... Too many... Sisters... Where are my sisters? Where is dad?" I muttered "Don't worry, Fishleggs is taking care of two girls." the girl said, who apparently was called Astrid. I tried to lift myself up. A little bit ahead were my sisters, sitting on a rock, next to a huge guy. They were drinking something. I fell. "Hiccup! We are losing him again!" "They are safe... I am safe... Were safe. Finally" I fainted again.
We travel back in time, almost 4 and a half weeks, when everything was normal.
“Who wants some salmon?" “Dad!!! Your home!" I yelled. “Yes I am son. But I almost got killed by those beasts. It’s like they grow stronger every time we fight them..." I didn't know what to say. I took the salmon, and put it on the counter. I took a knife and started to prepared the fish. My father saw the scared look on my face, and said:" Don’t worry son, we will grow stronger too”. What would I give to know what he was thinking now... "Now where are your sisters?" “I have no idea; they have been gone for 2 hours now. I think they are just playing around somewhere." I was done preparing the fish and started to split it in four." I putted the fishbone in my pocket, so I could throw it away. "Your sisters should be home by now..." my father said.” Ok, I am gonna look for them" I said. I opened the door and walked outside. I walked all over the village, but I couldn't find them. My last hope was the beach. We always used to play there. I took the path to the beach, and I heard the waves. I saw the sea. I walked on the sand, and followed some tracks. And yes, those leaded to my sisters. There they were. But something was different. I listened carefully. They... They screamed! I ran toward them, and saw why. There were 3 Terrible Terrors following them. I took my sword and ran even faster. They saw me and ran towards me. They came closer and closer, but so were the Terrors. I started to make some noise, so they would pick me as a target, but it didn’t work. The fishbone! I took it out, and threw it to the terrors. It worked! They ran after it, and stopped following my sisters. They ran toward the path to the village, and I covered them. We got away safely, luckily! We walked to our house and got in. I still had my sword in my hand, since I thought the Terrors would follow. The downside was that my father thought that I was trying to propel them, and screamed:" Have you lost your mind!!!" "No!" my sisters yelled, and we explained the whole thing. My father’s face turned form angry to worried, and he hugged my sisters. “You guys are never going there again on your own!" He said. Now that is just great! I thought, now I can be a babysitter... Even now my sisters are both 10, they are twins; they should be able to look after themselves, right? But my father never regrets something, and this is no exception...
Chapter 2: Dragons ahead!
I baked the fish, with bones saved my sisters, and served it as diner. "DINNER IS READY!!!" My dad, who otherwise would never listen to me, ran to the table. My sisters also ran from the stairs, and got to the table. “By Odin’s beard, that smells good!" my father said. “Enjoy your meal everyone!" After I ate three pieces of salmon, a strange noise filled my ears. I looked up, but no one seemed to have heard it. But there it was again. It was a low, rumbling tone. "Does anyone hear that noise?" i asked."No son, I don’t hear anything, why?" My father asked. "I think... I think i can hear... Dragons?" I said. "Nonsense" he exclaimed, and walked outside. But in the distance he saw them. A group of dragons, mainly Deadly Nadders approached the village. He ran inside. “And?" “No time to talk; blow the horn, dragons ahead!" I ran outside and blew the horn, and the whole village came outside, and ran towards our house. “What’s the matter chief?" Someone asked. “Dragons ahead, no time to talk!" Everyone knew what to do. Some manned the catapults, others grabbed their maze, sword or axe, and shield. So did i,I got them for my 16’th birthday, half a year ago. It took my axe and shield and stood before my house, ready to defend my sisters, even though they can be annoying... Nothing is going to come between me and my sisters! I thought. “Take good care, and look after your sisters" my father yelled. “And to you girls, listen to your brother when I’m gone!" They nodded, and so did I. My fighting skills were immediately put to the test. A Nadder landed in front of me, ready to attack. But so was I. I swinged the axe and hit the beast. Hurted it flew away. I was ready to take on another one, but I wouldn't n'or couldn't go away from my house, because I had to protect my sisters. The attack lasted an hour, and I had to deal with two Nadders and a zippleback, but it went well. Only a little damage to my shield, but that’s all. My father returned safe, and I told him what happened while he was gone. He looked so proud. For the first time since... well... my mother was kidnapped.I think i owe you to tell what happened now... Well, here is the deal:
I was 7 and was in the living room, like always. But this time was different. We were under attack by strangers, we never saw them before. They came in our house, and took me and my mother. But I grabbed my father’s reserve axe, and, eventhough I could barely lift it, hit one of the strangers. He dropped me, but when he wanted to grab me again another Stanger said:" Leave him, we have what we want". They left, and no one knows where they went.
That was the last time either me or my dad saw my mother...
We finished our meal, after I warmed it a bit, and went to bed. But there was one thing I couldn't forget. The noise. How is possible that I heard it and the others didn't? I couldn't sleep that night, wondering what it might be. A sunbeam filled my room with light again. I was going to be a hard day. I had no sleep, and we had to repair the village. Since I was the son of the chief, I had to help.
I always had...
Chapter 3: The rebuild
We worked all day, all work was finished, and I was broke. This time my father was making dinner, so I could rest a bit. I went outside, and went to my favorite place on the island. One could enter it through a hole in the cliff just outside the village. The hole was covered, and i dont mean here-and-there a little plant, but i am talking 15 inches of vines. Once you went through it, you could finally see its beauty. It was a beautiful place, with a view over the sea. The sun was reflecting in the waves so beautiful. I used to come here with my mother. We would just sit here, and watch the sunset. Today was no different. Except that my mother wasn't here. The birds sung, and I thought about the past. All the things my mum and I did when I was little. We went fishing one time, and I fell into the lake. I couldn't swim, but my mother dove after me, and saved me. The days after that I was so scared and sad, so she wanted to cheer me up. She took me to this place and showed me everything you could do in it. We often came here to listen to the sound of the waves, and played in the grass. We looked at the trees, and sometimes we climbed them. I was plunged in thoughts, and didn’t hear my father come. "Hi son" he said. "Hi" muttered. We didn't say a word. "I miss her dad..." "me too son, me too" he answered. “But why did they have to take her? Why my mother?" "Son, I don’t know, I really don't". We stayed there until the sun disappeared, and went home. My sisters Jacoline and Miranda had already finished eating, and were preparing to go to bed. I ate my dinner and went to bed. Tomorrow will be a new day, I thought.
That is it for today! I hope you liked it, and if you did, let me know, leave me a comment down below and i will see you next time with a new part of Dragons Ahead: The beginning of the end!
