Oh, that's interesting. Would you like to have the other textures, too? They should be compatible with your meshes. Speaking of customization: ... the hell? ;D I also found this: I have the XBox 360 version, btw. ;D

Oh, I forgot about the newer game that was released a few months before with all these Dreamworks characters, I believe it was called... hold on... is that dragon driving a freaking go-kart!?Damn, Dreamworks and their video games... Anyway, does anyone have that game and knows if Toothless' model is worth to extract? Can't find a better screenshot.

Okay, here: www.ata4.info/downloads/dwd/tyd/dragon_textures.7zFor reference: Code | Type | dgA | Night Fury | dgB | Gronkle | dgC | Monstrous Nightmare | dgD | Deadly Nadder | dgE | Hideous Zippleback | dgF | Didier |
Do you like to share your meshes, too? And how did you extract these, in case you did it yourself? I'm still struggling with this unorthodox KXE archive format that the game is using... Edit: And here's one of the videos, obviously about dragon customization. Note the default poses. The cutscenes actually have a pretty good quality. But they lack any voices because of the localizations and I can't quite figure out the location of the matching sound file... Edit²: Heh, found them... the video has multiple tracks, should've checked that first... ;D

I see, so you went the dirty way with the help of an emulator. Well, I still would like to see the result, though. Just for a quick preview until I got the raw mesh data.

Meh, still not luck with the mesh. Proprietary archive format, proprietary model format... not sure if it's worth the work anyway. Also got the Super Star Karts game now, but it's even worse... proprietary compression/encryption. Console developers seem to have a habit to squeeze their stuff into one big unreadable binary lump. Probably because of people like me. ;D But well, here's some music from the first game: www.ata4.info/downloads/dwd/tyd/music.7z

And now something completely different: Ever wondered how big the dragons are? This might help.Right now, I have the models of Wild Skies only and of all dragons, the biggest and smallest dragon (Terrible Terror and Red Death) are missing there. But well, it's a good start. The Smothering Smokebreath and the Skrill will be added when released.

Wow, that's really awesome! Thanks for posting It may be pretty useful later on. And actually I have sorta wondered how big Toothless would be compare to myself XD Turns out I'm only slightly taller than his height... That's really interesting. Can't wait to see the other drgons too XD I think we're just going to have to guess the sizes of the terrible terror and the red death...I don't think there's gonna be any models of those that we could get XD

I probably need more help from the guys on XeNTaX to unpack these files...

Yeah...I dont get it. They're not using any of the models anymore. Why not let the public use them? Really? Cool...Does the terrible terror even appear in the game? And its not the same actual model used in the movie (just like Toothless'), right? XD

Yeah...I dont get it. They're not using any of the models anymore. Why not let the public use them? Probably for the same reason why the source code of old games or other programs is never released: they don't want to or are not allowed to do so. And at some point, the files are simply lost. Forever. And that's what I'm afraid of, because companies won't last forever and people won't live forever and they don't seem to care much about digital preservation. If you read that Pixar basically had to reverse-engineer their own old production files for Toy Story in order to add a virtual 3D camera after less than 10 years, you can probably imagine the problems that will rise in 20, 30, 50, 100 years. Future generations can consider themselves lucky if they have at least the files for todays animated movies, even though they will probably not be able to read and use them without lots of efforts... But to be fair, HTTYD is less than three years old. As long as they earn money with it, they'll probably not even think about releasing any of their files. Really? Cool...Does the terrible terror even appear in the game? And its not the same actual model used in the movie (just like Toothless'), right? XD Um... I don't know, I never actually played the game. The name just appears in some file names. And no, I don't think we should expect Maya files in one of their video games. ;D

Dang...That really sucks Selfish people... If i were them, instead of just deleting the files I would at least let the fans have them They're never to be in use again. Its not like they're gonna create some fantastic rendering and lie that Dream works is working on a new movie or something. And for the case of people claiming the model as theirs, they can just find a way to avoid that by adding a logo on it or something. Oh, I see...And yeah, the game maybe would lag with such detailed models Which reminds me...I wonder how the model from the iPhone game (Flight of the night fury) is...Obviously less detailed. I wonder if its possible to extract that At least we'd have a Hiccup model...Sorta.

barracuda, since you got the HTTYD game for consoles and PC, do you think you can try to extract the Grapple Grounder mesh? that dragon didn't appear anywhere else and it would be nice to have a downloadable version of him.

Oh, I see...And yeah, the game maybe would lag with such detailed models Actually... if the NURBS models are converted to meshes with normal maps, like in RoB, they could be rendered quite nicely on todays GPUs. The huge textures and complex shaders on the other hand... Which reminds me...I wonder how the model from the iPhone game (Flight of the night fury) is...Obviously less detailed. I wonder if its possible to extract that At least we'd have a Hiccup model...Sorta. Uh, well... I think 512x512 pixels for a texture is low enough. ;D But I can have a look at it. I thought the only mobile game they released was TapDragonDrop, which is in 2D. barracuda, since you got the HTTYD game for consoles and PC, do you think you can try to extract the Grapple Grounder mesh? that dragon didn't appear anywhere else and it would be nice to have a downloadable version of him. I'm still trying to get any mesh directly from the game files of the first console game at all. It's not exactly easy...

True...that would make the frame rate drop Yeah it is... Okay And this one was released I think before the movie even went on at theaters. I think the creators removed it now though... I still have a copy. Was playing it for a bit yesterday, and that's what made me feel like mentioning it here XD
