Dragon Flower is definitely the one I am looking forward to more. I have a bit of an affinity with episodes that end up with my favorite characters in physical peril, and the summary implies (sort of) that Toothless will get sick too.
I need me some of THAT.
... and I am a horrible fan because I hope they are proper sick, not "kid's show sick= polka dots and green sick" sick.
Heather is going to be interesting, but I don't know what to expect from it so not exactly feeling as much hype for it.

I think Hookfang may have attention span problems... I do n- *wanders away* ...Okay, on a serious note. I think this is my new favorite episode. I wish the episodes would start focusing more on other characters, because so far it's just been Hiccup, but this one did have an okay balance. The other kids took initiative to get the treasure map without Hiccup prompting them, for example. And there were some good moments. Plus, the mechanisms in the cave! Completely impossible, and it never explained how they were powered, but who cares? They were awesome! I love adventure-y stuff like that!

Nice screencaptures, Serimon. It's a good parallel to see how the initial painting had Stoick with a hammer which is absent on the last one. "Hiccup" in the first one is looking so tough, but in the real version at the end, he has a beautiful shyness quite opposite the puffed-out chest vision his father originally wanted.

That's probably because I am not so much interested in a human characters than a dragon characters. I really love dragons and I want to see stories with them. Well, this is my main interest in "Riders of Berk". I wish to see an episode where the main character is a dragon. THISTHISTHISTHISTHIS A THOUSAND TIMES THIS Awesome screenshots BTW

Eeeeeee, I just loved this episode.
Especially since it seems like the Riders of Berk people are starting to pay attention to body language. (They do a lot with it in the movie and the shorts that's absolutely wonderful.) Not as up to par, but still wonderful.
Sure, the moral is cliche, but I think it actually really works with Hiccup's character in general. Here's a boy who spent his whole life looking for acceptance. He finally gets it and yes, he can be more self assured, but then here comes the reminder of everything that happened before Toothless. He wasn't buff, he wasn't good enough, and it's all his issues all over again. And what does he do? Why, do the COMPLETELY STUPID CRAZY THING that a bunch of other Vikings did and who cares if it's dangerous, gonna do it.
But that's also a thing I think really works here. In the movie when he's at the shooting the Night Fury stage, he doesn't seem at all willing to truly believe he COULD do it. But by this point, he does know to believe in himself. So even if he's feeling rejected, it hasn't completely crushed what confidence he does have. And because of that, he did everything WELL. He played to his strengths, didn't second guess himself, and avoided basically all the things that made any chance he had to do things well be near zero.
His contentment in the village is unstable, he's still afraid of rejection, and a small thing could set that off...but he still has some of that hard won confidence even though his feelings of acceptance could vanish. And by the end, it didn't become a thing to prove himself to the village, but to prove to himself that yes, he COULD do this. He could do a thing that has nothing to do with making peace with the dragons and do something not even a bunch of vikings could do.
Astrid was also wonderful. So worried about Hiccup and trying to get him to be okay with his father. If not the most delicate at one point.
And Gobber! Yessss, go Gobber knowing the problems right away.
ALSO, BOOK REFERENCES.
Hiccup is one of the few not killed by the successor. Go RoB Snoutlout for not trying to assassinate him! Yes, name symbolism, talking about how Hiccups can do amazing and unexpected things. A past Hiccup having spiritual/knowledge bond thing of weird going on. ALSO THE PAST HICCUP WAS A SECOND. Of his father's name, maybe not Hiccup, but still, he was Hiccup with 'the second.'
...I didn't get the third part riddle. What metal was that piece supposed to be anyway?

I think the answer was "reflective surfaces" what with the "look to yourself" bit.

(Note: I'm writing this in the Library cause my Internet crashed at my house)
I have to admin this was my favorite episode beside Alvin and the Outcasts.
And of course i heard the Book Reference in the episode. anyhow the episode have one of my favorite things in it: Adventure,Danger, and Action! Though i hadn't thought of Bucket as an artist but i'm not complaining (cause i'm an artist myself).
Also when Fishlegs and Hiccup were getting the second piece of that thing. Fishlegs complaining that "we should go home" thing and such , book Fishlegs sometimes tried to talk Book Hiccup about not to do dangerous stuff!!!!
And we finally get a hiccup and Stoick Hug that i won't forget!!!
One thing i was thinking when Hiccup and Toothless were trapped in the cave. The comic-con panel said to reveal Toothless' new power when he and Hiccup were cave-in! NO NEW POWER UGH OK so maybe this wasn't the episode were he gets the new power!

I think the answer was "reflective surfaces" what with the "look to yourself" bit. Oh, wow, that does make sense. Thanks, that part was really bothering me too. It went by so fast I didn't have time to really think about the answer.

It went by so fast I didn't have time to really think about the answer. Hey, I missed it the first... two times myself. It wasn't until I watched it on MY TV and not the family TV that I caught it. The family TV was too dark to properly show that the piece he picked up was reflective. Once I watched it on my brighter TV, it showed the reflection no problem and it clicked. It was so obvious but so hard to see because it was dark.

I just finished watching this episode. It was superly amazing! (Superly isn't even a word! XD)
This is certainly on par, if not better, than the Alvin episodes. The number of book references were almost unbelievable. But it was an amazing episode, all-round.

I concur. This was a pretty great episode.
More when I have the time to expand upon that.
