I know others are already prepared to stream the program and I don't want to step on other people's toes, but because I feel I was able to obtain the best stream quality possible short of an HD steam, I don't want to pass up the opportunity to stream the program for everyone - even if it's delayed a couple hours. I'll be streaming to the following URL at 7:30 PM PST on Tuesday the 7 th. www.ustream.tv/channel/oneill5491Awesome! That's a time I should actually be able to watch at. Sure, it probably won't be as heavily populated as the earlier one, but I'd still like to share it with some other fans besides just my mother and cousin. XD Though, shouldn't it be "PDT" instead of "PST"? :/ </time zone paranoia>

Goodbye, Jeopardy! Hello, Dragons: Riders Of Berk! You watch jeopardy too? Cool! I watch it with my roommate almost every night during the school year. But on Tuesday's Riders of Berk will totally take priority!! Gotta have my Hiccup and Toothless fix. Second semester this year I have a class 6:30pm-9:30pm, which sucks because I will have to wait to watch dragons

Wow, cool! Try to record the best possible quality! Although if they will put two episodes on the CN site... By the way, do you have Cartoon Network in HD? Unfortunately, my provider doesn't broadcast Cartoon Network in HD. I'm curious what the quality of CNs stream will be. Do you need to have an account with a cable provider to catch a live stream? Also, how soon do they post the episodes online to watch? I'm hoping that someone will upload a torrent of the show in 720p which I can use for screencaps and whatnot. shouldn't it be "PDT" instead of "PST"? :/ </time zone paranoia> This is true...and usually I'm pretty good at remembering to use the right one. Just overlooked it this time. Goodbye, Jeopardy! Hello, Dragons: Riders Of Berk! Alex Trebek: "This island is located twelve days north of Hopeless and a few degrees south of Freezing to Death. It's located solidly on the Meridian of Misery."

(forgive any ignorance in the following response. I feel stoo peed.) The CN's online live stream is kinda eh. The picture is okay, but not like SUPER good, and apparently there are issues with the way the sound is encoded. As well as streaming, I'll be running Tubedigger on it as well, so that's the best I personally will be able to do. You do need to sign in to a cable provider to access the streaming video (and full episodes too, I believe) My guess is the episodes will be available on CN's site within 24 hours after they're aired. They used to post them pretty quickly (at least within the week) when I followed other shows on there. YTP: Youtube Poop. They can be quite delightful MAH BOI

I can't wait for this. Honestly. I just hope that theydon't portray the dragons as mindless animals or pets, when they've made it clear that they sent (me and T11 have been concerned about this).

Given, "train" in HTTYD doesn't really seem to mean anything like "effective domination over a wild animal through charisma of personality" with any of the wonky morality issues therein. Rather, it seems to imply an appeal to the creature emotionally; at best, forming a friendship with it.
The best case in point I can offer are the books (which... of course the 3D media may or may not choose to leap off from-- so GRAIN O SALT, I guess). The dragons are fully sentient in the books, and the grandest irony is that probably NO ONE (including Hiccup!) manages to successfully train a dragon to conform to a human code of docility.
Toothless is prooooobably the closest emotionally since he actually is capable of demonstrating love outside of himself and his kind, but he is the farthest thing from the traditional definition of "trained".
In fact, the moral issue of using sentient dragons as basically slaves becomes a huge conflict late in the series.
I would be VERY surprised if the movies and TV series didn't continue with at least some ghost of these concepts underlying.
Hopefully nothing is going to be like Book of Dragons anyway. XDXDXD But my guess is if Hiccup claims to have "trained" a dragon, namely Toothless, he says so with the complete implication that he's been "trained" himself (no matter how obtuse the writing may get for the kiddies! The 3D media has always been more effective when it shuts up and shows us rather than tells us. XD)

Yeah, the trailers with the "DERP WE GONNA TRAIN THEM ALL!!!" voiceovers were ever so slightly worrisome, but then you have to remember that the series has never been all that decent at advertising itself for what it is, parading around under this silly paper mask, "I'm a children's series about dragons and explosions! Emotions? Grown-up introspection? Commentary on humanity? I don't have any of that stuff, I have no idea what you're talking about! (except I totally do, just ignore this obnoxious commercial and come see me, for Thor's sake, please)." My hope is that the marketing has just been poor, and is just deliberately written obtusely to appeal to the target 12-and-unders and not us. Which has consistently proven to be the case. XD At the panel, the creators seemed all on board to create something great here, and implied that the kids' relationships with their dragons would be taking center stage. As of right now, with what snippets I've seen, I have no reason to believe they won't follow through in a deliciously complex, fantabulous way. Of course, only time will tell. Luckily not too much time now, anymore.
